Chapter 23

Tuesday

The sun peeked in my bedroom window lighting my hair like a cascading waterfall of tussled auburn locks spread out onto the pillow.
I lifted my head from the pillow, my curly hair tumbling down like a waterfall on my shoulders.
The suns vibrant rays sent a glossy, gold sheen all around the room, blending with the falling leaves of Autumn.
The sound of the rhythmic waves tumbling in the surf brought a peaceful hymn to my ears, as I opened my window to engulf the cool San Antonio breeze.
I closed my eyes yet again, the suns waking rays warming my body. I drag myself up and walk towards the bathroom.

As I reach the others I hold Austin's hand smiling up at him he just gives me a blank expression he's been like that all morning as I squeeze he's hand reassuringly.
My stomach starts to turn making me want to hurl.
I had a really bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.
I felt bad butterflies erupt.
You could say if they were visible they'd look like black rukhs fluttering all around him.
I've never felt that way towards Austin.
Something was off with him today and I had a feeling one of us is going to get hurt...

As the day came to a close I went to meet the others by the lockers they were all there except Austin.
I had one lesson left and I really wanted to see what was up with him.

"Where's Austin?"
I furrow my eyebrows in confusion they just shrugged their shoulders.
I was getting worried and had that bad feeling in my stomach again.
I told the others I'll meet up with them in abit.

As soon as I turned the corner I started to sprint through the empty hallway.
All the ones I passed were all locked meaning the class was empty.
As I walked further I received a text message from Austin saying :

Im so sorry hazel for the way I've treated you I just have a lot on my mind but that's no excuse! I am going to make it up to you meet me in Miss Gray's room.

I just smiled then placed my phone in my pocket.
I heard muffling noises coming from one of the class rooms.
I slowly tip toed towards the voices.
As I got closer I recognised the two voices which it turned out to be Colby with Austin?
Why was he with her.
Am I missing something really crucial about Austin and his past with Colby?
No Hazel don't think bad thoughts.
He's probably just talking to her as friends.
I heard before I starting handing out with him that they were quite close before I joined the school.
But how close?
I just decide there's no point of wondering why he's with her I may as well just go in and find out myself.
I entered the room to see to see him locked lips with Colby.
