Chapter Five

Weeks passed by with no sign of breakthrough. I had given up hope that I would ever go home. It actually wouldn't be that bad, aside from the fact that Valentino was constantly trying to find me. Being a human put a target on my back.

Being in the hotel wasn't entirely bad. I got to hang out with Alastor a lot and he only occasionally tried to get me to sell my soul to him. I had also gotten pretty close with Charlie.

Right now, Charlie and Vaggie we're out, talking to overlords who would be able to help with my situation, but it wasn't helping much, since they couldn't tell them that I was human. I wasn't allowed to leave the hotel, so I couldn't even help.

I sighed. "Being in your favorite show isn't as fun as it may seem," I muttered to myself.

Sure, my world has it's problems, but at least I could go outside there.

I picked up the drink that Husk had given me earlier and finally took a sip. I barely managed to swallow it, since it was far stronger than any other alcohol I had even drank before. I closed my eyes and took another sip. I drank and drank until the glass was empty. I asked for another. I drank three glasses.

I went upstairs, feeling tiredness overcome me. As soon as my head touched the pillow, I fell asleep.

I woke up in the middle of the night, a raging headache overcoming me. I ran downstairs, looking for water.

I had the song Insane stuck in my head, so I muttered the lyrics as I walked.

I was cut off by a voice that sounded like a radio. "What are you singing? I think I recognize it."

Alastor was sitting there, smiling as always.

I went over to the fridge, grabbing a bottle of water and ignoring Alastor's question.

When I turned around, Alastor was standing in front of me. I gasped and jumped back.

"You can't do that!" I said. I set a hand on my heart, which was beating at five million miles an hour. "You're seven feet tall and I'm only Y/H! That was fucking scary!"

"Sorry," Alastor apologized. He didn't sound sorry.

I smiled.

"I like it when you smile," Alastor said.

"You like it when anyone smiles. As you say, 'You're never fully dressed without one'," I replied.

"But I like it more when it's you smiling," Alastor said.

I blushed and looked down. "Uh . . . thank you."

This was insane! I had to be going insane!

Do I have a crush on the radio demon? I thought.
