Sunny's pov

They told me they haven't seen Basil since we were in the hospital.

"I... I haven't been able to say sorry to him. For everything..." Aubrey said, shocked. I was still eating my pancakes, but unhappy. Why? Why won't he come out of his house?

This reminds me of when I wouldn't come out of my room four years ago. Looks like I'll have to be kel.

I stood up, and put on my shoes. "Hey! Where you going, man?!" Kel pleaded. "To find my best friend. I'm not leaving him behind. Not again." I look back at the others. Aubrey was grinning. Kel looked proud. And hero was looking like his child just went to college.

"Ok. Go get him. We'll be waiting in the park." Hero stood up, walking out the door. Kel gave me a thumbs up, and Aubrey gave me a pat on the back.

I walked out of the house, going in the opposite direction.

When I got to the gardeners house, I noticed a few things that were off. A random car was there, basils plants are dead, and it doesn't have the same homie vibe to it anymore.

I walked up to the door and knocked. A women in her thirties answered the door. "Excuse me, ma'am? Does a boy named basil live here?" "Yes? Why? What do you need with my son?"

So she is basils mom? She doesn't look or sounds motherly. "Well he's my best friend. I want to talk to him." "Well you can't. He's busy." She slammed the door in my face.

Ok then. Plan two.

I knew what she said about him being busy was bullshit. Him being 'busy' is tending a garden, not working in his room.

So plan two is simple. Break into his room.

I used to do it a lot when I was younger. Basil would send me a text saying along the lines of "help" or "I'm scared". He would have major nightmares, so I helped him calm down.

So, I had a plan. A very flawless plan.

I climbed the wall by the back of the house. I opened the similar window.

What I saw crushed me.

Basils pov

For the past four years, it's been hell.

My parents found out about me taking out Sunnys eye, and they were pissed. They didn't care that I was passed out longer than Sunny, they cared that I did something to another teen.

They hurt me. They were always abusive. That's why I lived with my grandma. Not only are they physically abusing me, they're also mentally abusing me.

I know that, but I can't help think that they are right. That I am a fuck up. That I am a good for nothing f@g.

Up my arm are scratched. No, not scratched, cut. I have also not eaten since Monday.

I'm so pathetic.

I hear a creak, then nothing.

"Basil?"

I know that voice.

"Basil! Basil are you ok?"

Sunny.

"Sunny? I-"

Warm arms wrap around me. How is he back? He... was back.

"Why are you back? I thought you wanted to leave... to leave me."

"No, no no I wouldn't leave you! No no no no I'm not going to leave you. Not again."

I looked in those dark eyes that I loved too much. He looked at me with sadness.

He just held me in his arms as I cried. I couldn't help it. My knight and shining armor came to me at my worse.

Sunny's pov

Basil looked... terrible. He was sobbing into my shoulder. He had bruises all over his body. Cuts going down his arms. I could feel his ribs...

God damn it basil.

I picked him up, holding his legs around my waist. I'm not leaving him here.

"Sunny?! W-what are you-" "I'm not leaving you. Not here."

He looked at me with his adorable eyes, but they were surprised. "Why?"

Why? Well, I can't just say that I'm worried because I'm in love with you and your my best friend and I want you to live with me!

I quickly grabbed his camera, and went though the window.

We (somehow) got out safely."o-ok! You can let me down now!" I thought about this for a second. I look him straight in the eye and say "no." And kept walking down the sidewalk.

"W-wha?! Why?!" Well I can't say that I like holding him, so I reply "you can't walk."

"Yes I can!" The flower scoffed, clearly being serious. He puffed out his cheeks, trying to be threatening. I chuckled, as he did this a lot as a kid.

"Then prove it. Prove that you can stand." Honestly, I just wanted to hold the small flower. "Fine! I will!" I moved over to the grass, where if he did fall it wouldn't get hurt.

I put him down in the grass. He stood up, and immediately fell. I caught him, and he looked at me with surprised eyes.

"See?" I pick him back up, walking to my house. "Why did you come back, Sunny? And don't lie." Well shit. Looks like I have to say it.

"I came back for you."
