𝑑𝑖𝑎𝑚𝑜𝑛𝑑𝑠 were Julia O'Brien's best friend ever since she saw the first pair on the late Carolina Cameron. She marveled at the shining rocks on her eyes as she hid in the kitchen of the Kildare Country Club. She was seven years old and would steal Vogue magazines every two months to see what all the ladies were wearing. On every birthday and half birthday, JJ would steal clothes until, eventually, an outfit would come out of it. Though let's be honest, JJ was a kleptomaniac and would steal every chance he could. Julia saved up around three hundred dollars and blew it all on a shimmery pink dress for her first homecoming. Though at Kildare High, the "homecoming" mainly consisted of spiked punch, people stayed barely till nine, where they would retreat to the Boneyard. She had used up the luxury hair products John B stole from one of the Kooks and zipped up the dress. It was her first taste of blatant waste of money because being pretty was worth it. She felt like she belonged when she walked into the store and didn't automatically look at the clearance rack. A flush of red fell upon her cheeks when she handed the woman a large wad of small bills but felt proud when she walked out with the dress in hand.
Ever since then, Julia yearned for it. She needed more. She wanted the glittering diamonds upon her throat and luxury bags across her shoulder. Julia looked upon the kooks she served with envy, not disgust. In all honesty, Julia was disgusted with how desperate she was to be them. She was disgusted with how she allowed some of the most powerful men of Kildare Island to cross far too many lines because that usually meant large tips. Julia felt dirty.
At the beginning of the summer before her senior year, Julia counted the four thousand dollars she had saved since the disastrous homecoming dance. JJ had taken her first kiss in a sloppy attempt at romance before throwing up all over her dress. She hadn't talked to him for a week and a half until he begged at her feet for her to forgive him.
Julia hid the money in various places in case anyone found the large sums of money and took it. Not that she expected that her father was capable of such a thing, but people got desperate on this side of the island, and she could never be sure.
Julia never expected Rafe Cameron would be the answer to her status problems. But Julia always wanted to be a princess. Even if being a princess meant acting betrothed to the Crown Prince of Kildare Island himself.✧・゚: *✧・゚:*𝗷𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗮 &𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗲✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
