Y/N was best friends with Nancy, the two of them lived next door to each other so she spent a lot of time round her house and Nancy spent a lot of time round Y/N's. When Nancy started dating Steve Harrington nothing really changed she was always pleasant and nice to Steve they had just never hung out before he started seeing Nancy, but that didn't matter they both still considered each other friends.
One day Y/N was walking with Nancy and Jonathan, she had been with them both the night before at Nancy's house. Nancy was helping Jonathan with the disappearance of his younger brother Will and Nancy was trying to get her head around the fact that her other best friend Barb had mysteriously disappeared as well and was no where to be found. The three of them were walking through town together when someone drove past in a red corvette and beeped his horn at them all
"Hey Nance, can't wait to see your movie." He smirked and laughed as the guy drove away
"What the hell was that?" Jonathan asked Nancy
"I don't know." Nancy said before turning around and seeing something she then ran in that direction with Y/N and Jonathan following, both of them still very very confused.
"Nancy wait!" Jonathan called out as the girl just kept running
"Nancy!" Y/N called out afterwards and when the two had finally caught up to Nancy she was stood across the street looking at the movie banner it said 'All The Right Moves Starring Nancy The Slut Wheeler.' Y/N sighed heavily at the embarrassment that she knew Nancy would be going through
"Jesus." Jonathan let out with a sigh, Y/N could see the tears that were starting to appear in Nancy's eyes but because the group of three didn't really know what to say they just stared at the vandalism in shock— more Jonathan and Y/N then Nancy. Poor Nancy didn't know what to say but Y/N watched as her best friend stormed off down some dodgy alley way behind the theatre where the vulgar writing was displayed and when Y/N followed she saw Carol, Tommy and Steve talking to each other.
"aw hey there princess." Carol teased Nancy
"Uh oh she looks upset." Tommy said but Y/N saw the look on Steve's face while she was stood behind Nancy, now Y/N knew that Nancy was pissed off but Steve didn't look best pleased either. Nancy stared at Steve for a few seconds before she slapped him round the face and Y/N wasn't going to stop her best friend because she knew that Steve deserved it
"What is wrong with you?" Nancy snapped
"What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you? I was worried about you." Steve said to Nancy after the two had their argument while Tommy were trying to cause an argument between the couple, things got from bad to worse when Jonathan started to beat up Steve and in Y/N's eyes it was absolutely justified, because Steve started to make accusations that Jonathan had killed Will who had been missing for a very long time— Y/N and Nancy tried to pull him off but he was far too strong for the best friends so there was really nothing that they could do. Jonathan was then arrested by the police while Steve made his escape from them.
The next time Y/N saw Steve it was outside a shop in town it was only a few hours after Jonathan had beaten Steve up, Y/N was getting some groceries for her parents and she saw Tommy, Carol and Steve outside. Y/N went indoors to get what she was sent to the shops for but once she heard Tommy and Carol making snide remarks towards Steve about Nancy she knew she had to do something
"The cops should just lock him up forever. Did you see the look on his face?" Carol joked while she was pretending to punch Tommy obviously making a mockery out of Jonathan.
"Carol!" Y/N shouted to get the girls attention, Steve was sitting on the bonnet of his car when he heard Y/N shouting to Carol
"Oh what do you want?" Carol rolled her eyes and before she knew it Y/N punched her in the face— it was mainly her nose but when Carol grabbed her face it was too late the blood was already poring out of her nose.
"I swear to god, if you say anything about Nancy again I will do more than just give you a bloody nose." Y/N said really horribly to Carol "And you!" Y/N pointed at Steve while he was holding a cold coke can to his face to make the swelling of his eye go down "I cannot believe you did this. I was with Jonathan and Nancy last night, nothing happened Steve. We were talking about Will and trying to figure out what's happened to him because the police aren't doing anything! Steve I promise nothing happened last night between them, Nancy was just being the good kind person that she is to see that Jonathan was alright! I was there sleeping over nothing happened." Y/N said harshly yet honestly to her close friend
"Y/N I'm sorry." Steve called out to his best friend as she started to walk away
"It's not me you need to be apologising to Steve." Y/N told him as she made her way back home.
