You swung by the edge of the island, where the destroyed deck floated across the top of the lake, and grabbed your duffel bag. Thankfully, your bag had been placed on dry land by the interns earlier in the way. Throwing it onto your shoulder, you started the hike to the cabins.
"Screaming Gophers, left. Killer Bass, right." You smirked. "Of course, I'm on the right because I'm always right." You joked to yourself as you walked up to the cabins. There was screaming already. "Well damn, that was quick." Slamming the door open to what you hoped was the girls' side, you were met by louder screams and squeals. Everyone was up on their bunks, screaming and pointing at you. Well, not at you, but at your feet. You looked down and saw a cockroach nearly the size of your foot. Looking up at them all, Lindsay and Beth clinging onto each other, while Courtney was screeching about the unsanitary conditions, you smiled. Before you had a chance to squish it, someone barged past you brandishing an axe. You saw a flash of green enter your vision as Duncan swung the axe above his head. You swore you could hear the poor creature squeak out 'help me' before the metal came down and sliced it in half.
"Well, that's one way to kill a cockroach." You commented as Duncan rested the axe over his shoulder and grinning.
"Badass is the only way I know how to do things, princess." He said, blowing you a kiss as he walked out of the cabin.
"Awesome." Harold stated, as he followed the rest of the teammates not fitting into the category of girl or Killer Bass out of your cabin. Noticing an empty bed, underneath Izzy, you set your stuff down and propped your guitar up against the edge of the bunk.
"Where have you been?" A shrill voice asked you as you turned around to face the culprit. Courtney was standing, hands on her hips, her mouth pursed, in front of you.
"Rescuing my baby." You motioned to your guitar as you sat down on the bunk, still facing her. "Is that an issue?" You unzipped your bag and started unpacking. She narrowed her eyes at you and scoffed, before turning around and returning to her bunk.
"Woah, you have a guitar as a child?" Izzy asked, hanging over the top bunk, her long red head reaching to your lap as her face hung in front of yours.
"Sure did. Birthed it and everything." You confirmed as Bridgette broke out laughing and Izzy grinned.
"Awesome." She remarked before flipping herself off the bunk and onto the floor, barely making it onto her feet. "I once knew a guy who had an octopus as a pet, he used it to rob banks."
"Smart plan." You said, taking out your swimsuit and placing it on top of the rest of your clothes that you had unpacked. "Not only can they camouflage but they can fit into a hole as small as a quarter." You added as she beamed at you. Sadie came over and sat down next to you.
"Wow! You're almost as smart as Katie!" Sadie beamed at me. Courtney scoffed from her bunk, located underneath Bridgettes.
"Well, last time I checked I'm the only C.I.T. on the island." She said proudly.
"And what is a C.I.T. exactly?" Sadie asked and before Courtney could answer, you figured you should reply.
"Courtney Is Terrible, which makes sense because you're the only one on the island named Courtney." You beamed as Eva and Bridgette laughed, and Courtney scowled.
"Actually, it means Counsellor in Training, which might be a little bit more helpful than being a washed up punk rocker with some fishy facts." She snapped back and you laughed.
"So, you've heard of my band then? Last time I checked, we weren't washed up." You tilted your head and smiled. Before she could open her mouth with what you were sure was another insult that would fall flat, a blow horn blew outside.
