One quick shopping trip later and we're back in the car, heading home. The sun has set long ago, so it's a good thing I know this place like the back of my hand. I mean, I grew up here after all. Seokjin is in the passenger seat, eating a chocolate bar that he pestered me to buy for him. We're quiet for the most part and I make sure to keep my eyes fixed on the dark road when he sneaks glances at me.
"So... when are you gonna teach me how to cook?" he suddenly asks.
"You're still on about that? I dunno, I might not have the time for it."
"Why not?"
"I already told you I'll be leaving in a few days and after that you'll never see me again. Or, well... not like this at least. You probably wouldn't recognize me when we meet again."
"Is that what the message on the wall was about? Where are you going? Why can't I see you again?"
"I can't tell you that. It's secret."
I make a left turn to our street and stop a couple houses away from Seokjin's. I don't want his family to see me dropping him off at this hour. I look at him and gesture for him to get out but he only snickers at me.
"You're so strange, you know that? Are you wanted by the police or something when you're being this careful?"
"What makes you think that?" I ask in confusion. "I've never broken a law in my entire life."
"Says the guy who literally just vandalized a school building."
"That wasn't by choice, I merely had no other options."
"So someone forced you? Was it your gang friends?"
"I'm not a gang member!"
"If you're not a gang member then why don't you just drop me off in front of my house?"
His persistence makes me wanna bang my head against the steering wheel. I knew I should've just stayed away from him from the start. He keeps looking into my every move. It's not good for a teenager to be this perceptive.
"Look," I say while trying to keep my frustration under control. "I'm a perfectly normal person and just because I don't want to tell you some things doesn't mean I'm doing something illegal. You and Namjoon-hyung are both so paranoid, I swear."
"If you're such a lawful and good person then why don't you just drive to my front door and save me the trouble of walking?"
"Because someone might see us."
He raises an eyebrow at me.
"And?"
"And even though I've done nothing wrong, me dropping you off might be perceived in a strange way."
"Oh. You're scared my parents might think we're fucking?"
"Yes, that's exactly- I MEAN NO! No, that's not what I meant at all!"
I feel my face burning with embarrassment all while Seokjin happily laughs at me.
"So honest. Don't worry, my parents aren't home right now either way. Although, I guess the neighbors might still see us, in which case it's more suspicious when we're just parked here on the road for a long while. Maybe I should shake the car to really plant some ideas into their heads?"
He starts wiggling around to set the car in motion and I really start to panic when thinking how it might look from the outside. I grab his shoulder and make him stay still in his seat.
"Oh my God, stop! Do you want to put me in jail?"
"I'm just messing with you. It's fun seeing how freaked out you get over this."
