Werewolves, New Kids, & the Hales
The high pitched sound of the whistle caused Scott to grip his ears in pain. The noise was so unexpected and loud that he didn't notice the lacrosse ball that was heading straight for his face. It hit him smack dab in his helmet, knocking him back and off of his feet.
"Hey, way to catch with your face, McCall!" Jackson's snide remark reached Scott's ears as well as the quiet 'oof' of sympathy that had come from the blonde haired new girl sitting on the bleachers a few rows in front of Lydia and Allison.
Scott sighed, and got back up, getting ready for the next throw. The next lacrosse player ran towards the net, running to the right of Scott and throwing the ball. Before it could pass him, he caught it. Scott looked at it in confusion before looking to see where the rest of the team was waiting to take their turns. They all looked at him in surprise, except for the tall, dark haired teen who Scott realized was the other new kid who had moved to Beacon Hills over the summer.
Stiles blinked a few times before he cheered, "Yeah!"
Coach Finstock looked at him with shock written all over his face.
The next lacrosse player came up, trying to score a goal by going down low, but Scott caught that one as well. Stiles cheered again, beyond excited about how well his best friend was doing.
The other students that were watching the try outs cheered as well.
No matter how many of the lacrosse players tried, they couldn't get the ball past Scott. He couldn't help the wide smile that crossed his face. He couldn't believe how well he was doing, but his smile quickly changed to one of apprehension as Jackson stuck his lacrosse stick out in front of the new kid, who was supposed to go next. The guy glared at Jackson, and swung the back end of his lacrosse stick forward to hit Jackson in the back as he stepped forward, causing him to stumble forward slightly. Jackson glanced back at the guy, before turning back to face Scott with a determined look on his face, like he was prepared to do whatever it took to take Scott down.
"Oh, God," Scott groaned as he prepared himself for Jackson's throw.
Jackson ran at the goal as everyone watched in anticipation. Once he was closer to the goal, Jackson jumped up and chucked the ball. The crowd watched the ball fly through the air with bated breath. This would be the biggest thing to happen since... well, the bottom half of a dead girl being discovered in the Preserve the night before.
Everything slowed down as the ball soared towards the goal. Scott shifted back and forth, before he moved his lacrosse stick to the left and... caught the ball! Stiles shot off of the player's bench cheering out in excitement. The crowd cheered as well, glad to know that their lacrosse team was going to have another great player.
Scott looked at the ball sitting in the net of his lacrosse stick and smiled, before looking up at the crowd and smiling. This was the best day of his life!
"That's my friend!" Stiles yelled as Lydia stood and cheered loudly for Scott.
Jackson turned to look at Lydia in confusion who looked back at him with a haughty smirk, before turning to look back at Scott.
Allison, who was still sitting down, smiled as she watched Scott.
Scott decided to show off, taking his lacrosse stick and swinging it to his shoulder, passing the ball behind him to the lacrosse stick that the assistant coach was holding. The students continued to cheer loudly. He couldn't stop the wide smile that was engulfing his face. He had actually stopped Jackson from scoring a goal!
Scott turned back to face the tall, dark haired teenager that Jackson had stopped from going earlier. As Jackson walked back to the line, the teen sent Jackson a satisfied smirk before facing back towards Scott. The assistant lacrosse coach tossed him a ball and the guy took off. Scott prepared himself for the guy's throw and the crowd went silent as they watched the new guy face off against their newfound star player.
