a carrington child...cool

sitting on her mothers sofa, staring blankly at the TV for the 3rd hour today, was starting to feel like normality to amanda.
no messages, no plans, no friends, no family.
she was alone.
she couldn't tell if she loved or hated it,
but she ignored thinking about it every day so her mind wouldn't become consumed with endless negative thoughts and unwanted concerns.
suddenly the front door opens, revealing her mother, alexis.
who she was supposed to go shopping with earlier but cancelled last minute as she felt so tired.
"amanda. you need to leave the house,
it's been nearly all week and all you've done is sit and watch tv." alexis sighed as she lugged her multiple bags throughout the penthouse.
"thanks for the concern, but i'm truly much happier doing nothing." amanda turned around to face her, as she saw a disappointed look on her mother's face.
"why don't you go out to a bar or something? a drink or two might be exactly what you need!"
alexis stated as she poured herself a glass of wine.
her mother had no clue about amanda's past drinking problem, amanda was way too scared to let anyone know about it. she just kept wishing that she would find someone who felt the same way and that she could finally relate to someone...but that never happened.
"maybe, i'll see how i feel later" amanda turned back around, already knowing she wasn't going to go.
"oh amanda could you do me a favour? it might actually get you out of the house!
and out of you're sweats."
alexis sighed as amanda reluctantly nodded her head.
"could you pop by the manor and drop round these for me? they barely know you yet so it'll be a good chance to get to know them!"
"yeah okay whatever" amanda said as she got up and grabbed the large box.
"at least change out of that" alexis frowned at amanda as amanda shook her head and carried on walking.
"wait! i'll get you a driver!" alexis shouted to amanda as she was half out the door.
"thank you, but i'd much prefer to walk...it will do me good" amanda smiled as she left the penthouse for the first time all week.

amanda took out her earphones and reluctantly walked to the giant door.
"um. it's amanda! alexis told me to drop these round so i'm just gonna leave them on this table! okay?" she shouted, as the house was so massive, she believed no one could hear her.
just as she was about to leave a sudden voice caught her attention.
"i'll take it off your hands for you! everyone is probably at work anyways" amanda turned around to see one of the prettiest girls she has ever seen...well she thought that anyways.
"oh um...thanks" amanda smiled as she handed the girl the huge box.
"what even is this anyways? i'm convinced anything associated with alexis is bad"
amanda laughed at her straight up sentences.
"you must be kirby" amanda stated, as kirby stood confused as to how she knew her...or even who she was.
"i am. how do you know that?"
"i'm amanda...carrington"
"OH, a carrington child...cool" kirby sadly sighed as amanda stood confused.
"hey we're not all self absorbed and cold! i'd like to think i'm pretty kind and affectionate!" amanda joked which made kirby laugh.
"hey um...do you wanna go out for drinks or something later? sam cancelled on me."
amanda thought for a minute...
was this a date?
no of course not.
but she sure took it as one.
"of course! it'll be nice to have a friend that's not my mother!".
kirby laughed as she took amanda's phone and saved her number as a contact.
"text me what time and stuff! i have nothing to do all day so don't worry about me not replying!"
"got it, i'll text you when i'm home" amanda said as she left to walk home.
"perfect!"

"i'm back!" amanda shouted as she shut the penthouse door behind her, making her way back to the sofa.
"what took you so long?" alexis huffed for no reason whatsoever.
"i bumped into someone"
"and who's that?" alexis said, not sounding happy at all.
"kirby" amanda nervously looked towards her mother's direction.
"as in anders kirby?"
"yeah...don't be annoyed, she's sweet!"
"you know what i think of her. she's trouble, stay away from her amanda"
"shame. i'm going for drinks with her later!"
alexis rolled her eyes.
"look, do what you want but she'll make you miserable!"
amanda sighed as she went to sit back down.
just as she did, a message came through.

it read:

- hey!!
just wondering what time best suits you for later! i can do anytime at all as i have 0 plans...
i was thinking we could go to the club near by! it says on a sign outside that the first round of drinks is on the house so obviously, that's my type of place!

amanda instantly smiled at the message.
god she's so cute
she thought.
she had no idea why she liked her so much, it was just something about her energy that made her so attractive.
she had no clue what to reply but she just did it anyways.

i don't think it's a good idea for you to come here...because of alexis and all that.

almost instantly, kirby responded.

well she wasn't wrong about replying instantly at least..

amanda thought.

i'm just intrigued by them paying the first round of drinks!
you do drink right?? ik it's a dumb question but you never know!

amanda had 2 paths to pick from.
either:

1. tell her she had a past drinking problem that she just recently got out of
2. just say yes

she picked the easy option to save any pitty.

yes of course i drink!
probably even too much sometimes, so don't mind me if i get carried away!

amanda laughed to herself.
