Royal Wolves are different from regular wolves, they aren't like us. They have a choice while we don't. Our mates are chosen by the Moon Goddess Celeste.
So when you fall in love it's not magical. And that's how it has always been. Since my childhood, I have dreaded finding my mate. And here's why there is no free will in it. Everything in me will tell me what I am feeling is right and for once I wanted to be the one she-wolf to defy the bond and find a mate without it. Today I am supposed to go to the Alpha King's Ball and I didn't want any part of it. If I was going to be there it wouldn't be inside where I can be seen. Today was going to be like any other day for me the only thing that will be different is just me trying to avoid finding a mate at all costs.
" Nichole are you ready? "
My Mom asked.

My Mom walks in front and I follow behind. Before I get in there I spray myself with wolfsbane. The Wolfsbane will keep my scent down it will make me somewhat invisible to the wolves at the ball. When I get inside and stand there for a few seconds a wolf zooms in on me and says the one word I dreaded,
Mate.
I stood there frozen in horror. He walks towards me and I found it hard to move paralysed on the very spot I stood. I close my eyes as he got closer. I kept my eyes closed and waited. When he walks toward the girl behind me I break into a smile. I blow out a sigh of relief.
"Thank the Goddess it wasn't me."
I murmur.
With my almost mate scare. I went outside to get some fresh air only to realize that I am not alone and the prince is outside with me.
" Prince Caleb. "
I say as a greeting and bow.
A part of me wonders why the prince would be out here and not inside trying to meet his mate, or choosing one. But I don't voice my thoughts instead
