Sophia felt like she was on a catfish leash with her necklace. She was moving fast in the water, faster than she would've usually swam. As the moon necklace traveled through the water, dragging Sophia along with it, it seemed to glow brighter.

Sophia couldn't believe her eyes as the necklace was shining almost as bright as the stars. During the swim, Sophia started closing her eyes because the brightness of the necklace started to hurt them. Also, she was hoping that she didn't bump into any rocks or large seaweed fields. Suddenly, the necklace stopped glowing and moving, everything went black for Sophia.

She seemed to have woken up on the shoreline of a beach near some big rocks, where the little waves of low tide crashed onto her own pair of human legs. The water felt cold and yet refreshing.

"Wait one shake of a mermaid's tail! Feet?!? I have human feet and legs!"

Sophia was extremely excited. Yet she did not know what the meaning of her transforming into a human.

"Jumping jellyfish, would Mrs. Scallop could just see me now!"

Sophia started feeling the sand between her toes on the beach, savoring the moment. It took a few moments for her to realize that she was nude. Well, it's a good thing that I am hidden behind some huge rocks.

Little did she know that someone was watching her the side. A young boy came upon her, in a mature state, and took off his athletic shirt. He then gave it to Sophia to cover up.

"It looks like you got pretty banged up by the storm waves last night. No worries, I can help you out. Hi, I'm Ryan." He extends his hand out to her.

"I'm Sophia." She took his hand and tried to stand up.

Sophia stood from the ground but the sand was sticking all over her body. She had a hard time standing up straight but with Ryan's help, she learned to balance out.

Sophia took a closer look at him and noticed his light brown eyes that sparkled when the sunlight hit them. The sun was rising up from the ocean and high tide was coming soon.

"Yeah, the storm last night was really harsh to everyone in this town. The beaches are kind of a mess now. I was really hoping to go surfing before school started but it is low tide. Anyway, where are you from? I never seen you around town before." He guided her off the beach to his house.

"I'm actually on a mission, something urged me to come here and I want to find out what is the reason." Sophia tried to explain so maybe he would kind of understand.

"Well, we better get to my house, which is where I'm taking you, to get cleaned up. My mother and brother would be happy to meet you. Plus, in our backyard we have a salt water pool to use."

"You can stay in our guest room, it's our pool house, to collect yourself. My mother said that it would be fine with her, I just called her. She's out shopping for food now." Ryan pointed out and continued talking to Sophia.

"You do not need to worry, I'm here for you." He took his hand and put it into her's as they walked carefully to his house.

"So, how old are you, Ryan?" Sophia asked blushing a little as he gave a small grin.

"Sixteen years old. It was actually my birthday a couple of days ago. My present from my mother was driving lessons at a motor vehicles place. I start my lessons on Monday."

"Is that what you wished for? You know, for your birthday?" She looked at him with curious eyes.

"The driving lessons are good and I'm grateful but I wished for something else."

"And what would that be?"

"For there to be a little more love in my life. Ever since my father was missing at sea, my mother stopped interacting with me. She just left me with what I needed to succeed in life and then moves on with her work. You see she is a teacher at my school and is the head boss in her department. She teaches biology."

"Oh, I'm sorry to heart that. My parents are both gone, my father is also missing and my mother got killed by fishermen."

"Did she fall into the water and get hooked or something?"

"Yeah, something..."

The two of them walked to the house and along the way they talked about different topics. But both wanted to see what they had in common with each other.

"No way! Purple is my favorite color, too. So, Ryan do you like music?"

"Yes, I like to play all sorts of tracks."

Sophia just gave him a confused look but nodded anyway. She wondered what tracks were and wanted to hear them. Maybe they sounded like the ocean music she usually is surrounded by.

"I'm guessing that you like to sing. Right, Sophia?" Ryan then stopped walking.

"How did you know?" His hand slipped out of her's.

"Well, I thought that such a beautiful girl like you would love to sing." Ryan gave a little bow to Sophia like she was a princess.

"Geez, thanks. Not many fish...I mean people would say that to me."

"Alright, let me hear it then."

"My voice?" Ryan nodded. "Okay."

Though Sophia had her mother's siren gift she was able to control it, through practice of course. She began to sing the siren chant her mother taught her, thinking maybe it would please Ryan.

"Sweet Sailor, follow me. To the depths of the blue sea. My heart is open and it's free. Follow the voice and never leave."

Ryan looked like he was in some sort of daze but came out of it as Sophia stopped singing. He just looked at her, amazed at how beautiful her voice was.

"That was unbelievable! You had such a pretty tone when singing."

"Thank you, that means a lot to me."

He moved closer to Sophia and was starring at her lips. Just as Ryan was about to kiss Sophia, she changed the subject and kind of pushed him away from her.

"Sorry, Sophia. I just...couldn't help myself for some weird reason." He stepped away from her and tried to come back out of the trance.

"Are we almost there?"

'Yeah, just a couple more blocks and then we are home."

The rest of the walk they did not talk to each other much or hold hands. Yet Ryan wanted to, badly. Sophia was so beautiful and had the singing voice of a mermaid.
