part 1: roomates

                             Y/N POV

I stood in front of the campus, this is it, this is where I'll be staying for some time. I sighed as I pulled out my phone, it was 2:07. I looked up from my phone and back at the building, "better go get my keys for my dorm, hopefully my roommate won't be a dick-" you walk up the stairs towards the doors and open them, I get my keys and walk up to the Dorms. I stood in front of the door. I was hesitant but I put the key in the lock and turned it, I opened the door and I saw--

A girl, she didn't look like she was even a college student-- she looked like a teenager. She was humming a simple tun, she was making a latte. "..Hello?" I said abit loudly, she turned to me, I could see her better now, red eyes and long brown hair. "Uhm, are you..-" I looked down at the piece of paper that the lady at the front desk gave me.

"Hu tao..?" The girl ran over to me almost spilling her drink-- she shook my hand which made me jump alittle-- "Correct! You're Y/N, right?" "Uh, yeah.." she giggled, she seemed...normal I guess- "ah, so you are new, correct?" I nod, she squeals in I presume exciment- she pulls me into the dorm. "I'll show you around later, but for now make yourself at home!" The dorm was surprisingly nice, I mean this was a pretty nice college. It had a kitchen, living room, a bathroom and two bedrooms.

I looked around, hu tao popped up in front of me. "So, what do you think? Pretty big huh? Oh, the room over there is my room by the way." My eyes followed hu tao's hand, it was the door on the left of the room, it had stickers on it. Hu tao moved back alittle and looked at me, "so, what do you wanna see first? Library? Cafe? The park?" "Hmm, could I go get my things put away and then you can show me around?" "Of course, just tell me when you're ready!" I walked into the room on the right of the room, it was pretty spacious, a bed tucked into the corner, a closet, a window and a bedside drawer.

I sat my suitcase on my bed and started unpacking,

Timeskip...

Afew minutes later I had everything out of my suitcase, clothes were hung up in the closet, bed was made..all that stuff. I walked out of my room and went over to taos door, I knocked. Hu tao opened it, "you ready Y/N?" "Yeah, could you...possibly show me around the city? I've never been to New York before-" she smiled softly, "of course! Alright now let's go, I'll show you where I work!" She grabbed onto my arm and dragged me out off the dorm. "H--hold on, I gotta lock the door-" hu tao let go of my arm and giggled. "Hehe, sorry bout that!" I locked the door and then we were off.

"So where did you come from, Y/N?" "I was born in T/N, my parents insisted I go to college so I did. I heard NYC had some good options so I came here." She opened the doors for me. "Well I'm glad you decided to join this college." I smiled at her, we walked down the sidewalk for a couple of minutes. She grabbed my hand. "This is my work." I looked up, it was a small, cozy cafe. 'Jade cafe'...not a bad name, hu tao opened the door and we both entered. The cafe had a beautiful jade chandelier, I looked around in complete awe. "Oh, hey Hu tao!" I turned to where the voice came from, it was a girl with light pink hair, green eyes and big ears. "Yanfei!" Hu tao ran over to the girl who I now knew was yanfei. The two hugged as I stood there, kinda awkwardly.

"Yanfei, this is my roommate Y/N!" "Hi there." "Hello Y/N, I'm yanfei." She put her hand out and I shook it. "So what brings you to New York Y/N?" Oh you know, college and trying to get through life." Yanfei laughed. "Heh, well I hope it goes well for you. I've already graduated from college so if you ever need help with college, I'm here!" Me, yanfei and Hu tao chatted for abit. "Well, I should get going. Cya guys!" Yanfei picked up her coffee and book and left. "She seems nice, do you know her Hu tao?" "Oh, me and her are actually dating!" "Really? How long?" Hu tao put three fingers up and smiled. "Holy crap that's a long time, I'm happy for you guys!" "Thank you, well since were here. You want anything to drink?" "A green tea, please." She nodded and went up to order. I stood there again very awkwardly- I felt someone slightly push pass me. "Hey watch where your-" I turned around to see a guy, he was a red head, blue eyes and pretty tall. Me and him stared at each other for a moment,

"Childe, what's the hold up?" I looked past the guy to the other person, she was a tall, blonde woman. "Right, coming.." he left the store with the woman. "What an asshole.." I turned back towards hu tao, she got our drinks and we sat down. I wanted to say something but I didn't wanna sound like I a drama queen. Hu tao noticed me being quiet, "hey, you alright Y/N?" Who was that guy anyway? He could've apologized for pushing past me- "Y/N!" "H-huh, what..?" "You alright?" "Yeah I'm fine..-" hu tao stared at me, I looked at her and raised a eyebrow. "Is something wrong?" "What happened?" "Nothing happened." I turned away from her. "No, something did happen, you said 'what an asshole' when I was walking towards you with our drinks. If something happend, I wanna know."

I stayed silent for afew more minutes as hu tao stared at me, I huffed and turned to her. "Okay, some guy pushed pass me and didn't say sorry. I know it's not a big deal but it just really bugged me-" hu tao got up, "did you get a name? What did he look like? I can report him to my boss zhong-" "no it's fine, he was probably having a bad day and wanted to get home." Hu tao picked up her drink, "well okay, we should get going, I'll continue showing you around tomorrow." I got up and grabbed my drink, I realized that I don't have a job yet- "hey Hu tao, Is there any open jobs here..?" "Funny that you ask, we are actually low on staff currently, here come to the back with me! We can talk to zhongli."

Hu tao and I went into the back area, there was a guy in a white collared shirt with black hair that faded to orange Tied into a ponytail, "Heya zhongli!" He turned to hu tao. "Hello hu tao, what brings you here today?" "Well my friend was wondering if they could get a job here." She turned towards me, zhongli looked at me. "I don't think we've met before, have we?" "I'm Y/N, it's nice to meet you, zhongli." "As I was saying, do you think they could get a job here?" Zhongli got up, "Hm, well we are low on staff. I could interview you in a week how does that sound?" "A week? Mr. Zhongli could they please work with me tomorrow? They're a good person and they're really social. Please, can they work with me-?"

Zhongli looked at me, I looked up at him. He sighed, "yes, Y/N may work with you tomorrow, I'll see how well they work and I'll consider hiring them." I smiled. "Thank you Mr. Zhongli, I won't let you down!" Me and Hu tao walked out of the backroom, she squealed as she hugged me. "I'm so glad we're gonna be working together!" I laughed. "Haha...Alright, loosen the grip.." Hu tao laughed, we left the cafe and started walking back to the campus. The sun was already setting, "time really flies when your having fun huh?" I looked at the sun setting in the distance. "Yeah, it does. Yknow Y/N, I'm glad you're my roommate." I smiled at hu tao. "Same." We got back into our dorm room and watched TV for abit, during a movie I started getting tired. "Hey Hu tao, I think I'm gonna get some sleep.." I stood up from the couch and started walking to my bedroom. "Goodnight Y/N, Sleep well!" I opened the door and fell onto my bed. Today was great, I may have a job. This may go more smoothly than I expected it to..I yawned one last time before drifting off to sleep.
