⚊ chapter thirteen

His second day back to school were boring. He went to his classes then headed to the cafeteria for lunch before their afternoon practice for the soccer team.

He was walking down the path to the caf building when he noticed a small figure sitting under the oak tree a few yards away.

They tucked themselves almost completely out of sight of the path, but the bright minion bag caught his eyes, he could recognized it everywhere. Only one girl is childish enough to buy something like that for her school.

Ni-ki walked over to take a peek and sure enough, it was Sunhee. She was sitting at the base of the tree with her knees up by her chest and her head tucked down.

Now he's no expert on female body language, but she definitely seemed upset. Usually, the girl was all smiles to everyone he knew.

"Ahh.. Shorty?"

Her head snapped up to look at him and her eyes told him everything he needed to know. She is clearly upset. Her large brown eyes were glassy and rimmed red.

Ni-ki instantly regretted walking over. What the fuck he was supposed to do if a girl was upset? He's not good at this shit and when it comes to his own sisters, he usually bribed them with sweets.

Sunhee seemed to be wondering the same because instead of speaking, she just stared up at him with a confused frown.

Sighing, Ni-ki decided to bite the buller and try to be decent, "Are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine. Thanks", She replied curtly, obviously expecting him to accept it and walk away.

But then a flashback came of Sunoo appearing in Ni-ki's mind. He knew his bestfriend would want nothing more than to have his sister be comforted.

There was also the fact Sunhee stared up at him with tears in her eyes. Fuck, what's with me being weak to girls with their tears?

Ni-ki didn't know what to say and he really just wanted for the whole interaction to be over, so he face her again.

"Look", he said as he sat down in front of her, "It doesn't seem like you're okay, so if you need to cry it out or well, anything to make you feel fine, just say it. I might be able to help"

He stayed there with her while staring at the grass because him and having a meaningful conversation with a girl really didn't mix.

When Sunhee didn't respond right away, he looked up and saw her staring back at him. Her nose scrunched up a little and her eyes were too pretty in it's color, he had to look away.

Fuck, remind me why am I trying hard with this girl? I could be eating my lunch by now.

But instead he stared back with both of his eyebrows raised, signalling that he was waiting.

"Well", Sunhee started with a soft little voice, "it's stupid really. I heard some of my classmates talked about me being a real flirt or that s-word just because they saw me with Heeseung earlier and it hurts me inside. Because I'm anything but that, right?"

Well, fuck me if I'm right, but she was too innocent to be called that word. She can't even say it right now.

Had her voice always been this nice to listen to? Ni-ki knew she was upset, but if he laid down he's pretty sure she could put him to sleep with that voice.

He realized a little too late he was supposed to help, so he scrunched his face, looking up at the sky and tried to think of advice for her.

"Look you know yourself better than they are, right? Ignore those fucking idiots and let them eat their own insecurities", He looked down to see if he was helping her at all.
