⚊ chapter fifteen

The panic in Ni-ki's voice scared me, so I told him my location right away before I could consider just what kind of emergency he is pulled in.

My anxiety rose as I thought about possible options. Maybe someone is stalking him and he needed a hide out? What if they follow him here?

What if it was a girl? Like the one he said who have a crush on him from the cheerleader's team.

Oh Lord.. Why am I thinking of the worst cases?

Before I could spiral into something worse, a loud knock on my brother's car window made me look up. Ni-ki stood outside, panting lightly and hunched to his knees. Without an invitation, he stepped inside and tried to catch his breath to speak.

"Thank god.. I remember I didn't get back my jersey!"

I looked down to realize that Ni-ki was right. I hadn't returned it yet. I had been so shaken by the attention the race get, I just crashed away from everyone in this car.

"Sorry about that", His breath wooshed out as he leaned in the seat, "I had to run here from the field and I don't have much time. We have another practice. We also have to bring our partners to a welcoming party tonight"

"Wait what? I'm not going to that kind of party. It's the school week", I refused.

"I don't know what to do. We just got orders and even if Heeseung is the captain, he can't deny the tradition of the soccer team every year. Look, please Shorty? I will take you to the party and the second they declare it's okay, I will bring you back to your house"

"Why don't you ask my brother's permission first?", I reasoned with him.

Ni-ki grimaced, "I tried to find, but he's already locked in the newspaper room and Jungwon is not allowing anyone to disturb them"

Sighing, I stared down at my shoes. Not that I hated parties, I hated attending when it's the school week. But the least I could do is help out a friend, right?

I hope this was a good decision of mine.

"Ni-ki, I need you to promise me that I will be there for only an hour. You have to bring me back at 6 in my house. And I'm going to ask Yuna and Ryujin to come, so I have a company"

"Thank you! Thank you!", He shouted as he goes for a hug and I stopped him with a smile.

I knew we're basically friends now, but we were still not in the level of hugging yet.

Either way, he leaves me to call my friends after getting his jersey back and say he will meet me at the back of school once we're ready.

Still hesitating over Ni-ki's invitation, I went into Yuna's jeep from the other side of the parking lot. I found them both catching a nap in the backseat, Ryujin only actualy while Yuna is playing games on her phone.

Thank goodnes, they were still here in school.

"Hey. Any chance you want to come to a soccer team party? We aren't going to stay long but I'd like the company"

Yuna stared at me like I had grown three-heads, "Wait, we are invited to a party started by a soccer team? Where their players is all handsome.. Hell yeah, I want to go!"

I laughed at that especially when she shook Ryujin to wake up. If you were going to ask for our other friends, Chae went to an all-girls-school while Lia and Yeji were now starting their new lives in College.

It was just the three of us now.

A few minutes later, Ni-ki rushed the three of us down a path towards one of the biggest building of the school in the back, and it was rarely used by any classes. I think it was reserved for any parties to come in this school.
