PROLUGUE:
SIRIUS ARON MARQUEZ
"Congrats! Doctor Marquez!" As I open the main door of our house that's what I heard. I saw balloons flying on the air and them smiling widely, Mom holding a cake both of her hand.
I just got home after finding out that I'm already a doctor. I start from 4-5 years of pre-med degree. 4 years of medicine proper. 6-7 years straight program, I graduated from LA Salle De Manila University, short for LSDMU. Yes its kinda hard and tiring but its worth it when you got successful in the end. Let's add that I have my supportive family. We are family doctors, I think its on our blood, They told me to get the course i wanted and I chose doctor not because of our family but its what I want to.
"Thankyou mom and dad, To my siblings..Cassy and Tasha, also Manang lori and others who make an effort for this. All of you deserve the the success i am celebrating right now, thankyou for not stoping to support me that time. Cheering me up whenever I'm feeling down." I enhale and look at them, one by one. "Again Thankyou po sa inyong lahat. we all deserve this."
With a tearing eyes. Lumapit si mama sa akin at yumakap with her left hand. Because her right hand was holding the cake. "Oh My son..." My mom is soft hearted. She always appreciate little things.
"Give me that hon." My dad went to our direction and take the cake from mom's hand. "Congrats son."
"Thanks dad." Umalis sa pag kakayakap sakin si mommy, I hug my dad and tap his back. Lumapit na ako sa dining bago ngumiti sa kanilang lahat. There's no minor on our family so i hold the glass of wine before lifting it up.
"Cheer's to all, another doctor added to our family!" I smiled when they lift they own glass. We all drink it before sitting on our own seats.
Napunta lang ako dito sa bahay dahil gusto kong ibalita sa kanila na isa na akong doctor. But they already know it, so... I'm kinda surprised but expected. Maybe some of my mother's co-doctor told her. I have my condo unit, mas malapit kasi iyon sa pinapasukan ko kaya doon ako pansamantala. Nag usap lang kaming lahat before we decided all to sleep.
"Son why don't you sleep here?" My mom said with pouty lips.
"I can't mom."
I don't know but one thing is for sure i'm not busy so I know I can sleep here, but there's something on me wanting to sleep there on my condo.
"Naulan na anak, aalis ka parin?" Tanong ni dad na tinanguhan ko naman. "Okay, let her hon. His a grown man now, he knows what he wants." Very well said dad.
"Alis na po ako." Paalam ko bago sila kinawayan. "Cassy." I call my sister and waved. "Tasha." Our youngest, I'm the only boy they have, I am protective to them even if the youngest is Nineteen.
"Ingat ka kuya." Paalala ni mom nang makasakay na ako sa kotse kahit sumagot ako ay di naman ako maririnig dahil naka soundproof itong kotse. I just beep two times before heading. Bago ako umalis ay hinabol ni mommy yung payong na itim.
I drive until I reach traffic, maraming tumatawid na tao sa kalsada dahil kulay dilaw na ang traffic light sinabayan pa nang pag ulan. Umiling iling ako. Thirty second before it turn green...I was counting the seconds while tupping the steering wheel. when I saw a wet cat beside the traffic light stand. She's a white cat, she was licking her hands because of wetness. Cause by the rain coming from the dark clouds. Kinuha ko yung payong ko sa backseat na pinabaon sakin ni mama bago lumabas. I look at the traffic light. Nineteen second left.
Tinakbo ko ang distansiya nang pusa at pwesto ko bago ito binuhat. Im not a fan of cats, because I'm allergic to it. I dont know why did I wanted to get this cat and get him or her, for me to take care of it. Pinasok ko ito sa passenger seat before I rotate and went to the driver seat. Nang maka pasok ay binalot ko nag doctors robe yung Pusa. Two second's is remaining so I start the engine. Before driving back home.
Umaakyat ako nang hagdanan dahil napuno ang Loob nang elevator. I was on the second floor when I saw an old woman sitting at the stairs. Her clothes is ripped and she smells bad. I was wearing my doctors robe while holding my case on my other hand. Inside my case is all the papers I read and answer when I was on the time were I am so stress.
Lalampasan kona Sana ito nang naka kita ako nang maliit na ngiti sa kanyang labi. It's just a smile but why did I find it weird and uncomfortable.
Her teeth is almost black, her face has a lot of wrinkles.
"Nakilala mona siya." Sabi nito na ipinagtaka ko. Sinong siya? I was about to ask her when i heard a response from a cat.
"Meow." I heard the cat whisper. Kumunot ang noo ko. Lumingon dito ang babae bago ngumiti at may narinig akong pangalan na binanggit niya.
