From a young age, Sawada Tsunayoshi was an observant person. He noticed small details that normal people would usually gloss over. This may be due to him having only one person around his first six years of life. A person who was just a little too good when it came to being oblivious to the things surrounding her. This one person is none other than his mother.

His mother would sometimes gain this look in her eyes whenever the boy's father called. The same father that abandoned his family to be a hero in Italy. His name is Sawada Iemitsu.

It was one of those times his mother had gotten off the phone with the idiotic man and began cutting up some ingredients for dinner. The knife was either a bit too sharp or his mother applied too much force. Either way, they soon needed a new cutting board.

Tsuna made a mental note in his mind of his observations of his mother.

Her name is Sawada Nana, as most know. Her occupation, currently, is being a housewife. Her status is a former villain, as he found out after a bit of digging. She likes smart, capable people. She dislikes idiots that are ignorant of others. She has a façade of being an ignorant and oblivious housewife. The thing she hates the most. She is smart though. She knows how to act to adapt to different environments.

There were other things that she liked and disliked, but these were his main observations.

The brunet looked over at his mother giving up on making food for the night and just walking over to the phone instead.

Tsuna liked it when she was herself. That was who he strived to be. That's why, when he was accused of cheating the first few times at age nine, he learned how to adapt. He put on a mask of idiocy, just like his mother.

It wasn't too long after that when Yamamoto Takeshi approached Tsuna.

Yamamoto Takeshi is the same age as him. Both of his parents are heroes, one officially, the other not. It was easy to tell with both of their morals so high and their reflexes that seem trained professionally. Yamamoto Takeshi likes baseball a lot. He doesn't have any dislikes other than bad guys doing bad things. But that's pretty normal.

Tsuna never knew the reason behind the other's sudden want of friendship with the brunet. There wasn't much appealing other than the harmless nature he had after all. Tsuna accepted, despite his curiosity. He had been attracting bullies as of late after all.

Yamamoto was a bit weirder when it came to observing the boy. He was either extremely sharp or extremely oblivious. Sometimes, and only sometimes, was the boy putting up a mask of obliviousness. Later on, Tsuna dragged his acquaintance out of the rain, where he was practicing baseball, and into the warmth and safety of the boy's home. The mother and father seemed very grateful at the time.

Tsuna brought home sushi to eat that night. His mother even patted him on the head, happy that she didn't have to cook.

The affection felt strange. The brunet secretly liked it but would never tell his cold mother. She would only sigh in disappointment and explain to Tsuna that getting attached is not good. The brunet would always agree with his mother since she was usually right.

He stayed close to Yamamoto, eventually started calling him Takeshi in high school, and became acquainted with four other people. Their names were; Kurokawa Hana, Sasagawa Kyoko, Sasagawa Ryohei, and Miura Haru. He also became acknowledged by Hibari Kyoya at some point. Tsuna isn't sure why but he is willing to bet it's because Hibari Kyoya has yet to attack him.

Life was usually pretty dull and went by quickly. This was fine by Tsuna though. He preferred it this way. His acquaintances were already chaotic enough. He didn't necessarily expect chaotic neighbors when he left for college. Nor did he expect them to be the strongest villains in the world.

This was frankly troublesome, in the brunet's opinion.
