Chapter 1 ~ The First Day of Camp - Monday

Third Person POV

Today was just like any first day of camp. James and Max were in green group, which was the highest group, and ranged from thirteen to fourteen. Little did James know, Max was his online friend for a while. They would be attending the same camp for the next six weeks, and a series of surprises would be heading their way that day.

James' POV

I was getting ready for my first day of camp like always, waking up at 7:45 AM. I had to be there by 9:00, so I wouldn't be late. I got dressed and packed my backpack, which included my lunch and water for throughout the day. I went to the downstairs of my MASSIVE house and ate breakfast, peeking at the time on my phone. It was already 8:45 AM, which meant I had to leave for camp soon. I followed my mom outside along with my two brothers, Xavier and Asher, who were also attending the same camp. I gulped with fear as I stepped foot onto the campground, signing me and my brothers in. I looked to the other tables and saw some people I recognized from last year, so I walked up to them and asked if I could sit with them. There sat Christine, which i've known for a few years now, Lily, which i've known for about two years, Jaime, which i've known since last year, Alyssa and Hedge, who are new, and... someone else...

Max's POV

I arrived at the camp, scanning over the amount of losers I had to deal with. I signed myself in groggily, being that I stayed up last night. I sat at a random table and ignored everyone. I played games on my phone when someone arrived that I thought was oddly familiar.
" James...? "
I asked in disbelief. It was really him, the guy i've known for such a long time on discord. He was just as shocked as I was, waving and sitting next to me. Everyone introduced themselves, and it's not like I cared.

JAMES' POV

When Max let me sit next to him, my cheeks flushed red. I had to hide it under my shirt, so I pulled my shirt up and above my nose, my shirt not sliding up because it was a pretty baggy shirt.
" Hey~! So, my name is Lily, and, like, she/her and stuff because I'm not gay. "
Lily announced, standing on the table.
" No one cares. " Max added, rolling his eyes and scoffing. The look on his face, the apathetic one, was quite dreamy. But why was this happening? I've never felt such an attraction to a male...
The counselors soon announced that we were going to the wooden park, so we packed our stuff up and made our way up there. The walk was slow, hot and painful against the blazing sun. I sighed once we got there, Me, Max, Alyssa, Christine, Lily, Hedge, and Jaime running to a spot at the playground, claiming it as our official hangout spot.

MAX'S POV

Once we arrived to our spot, I sat down on a bench and pulled out my phone, texting a few of my friends out of boredom. I felt James sit next to me, but I shrugged it off and continued to text. I felt his hot breath on my neck, obviously looking over my shoulder at my phone. I shivered, and it seems like he noticed, quickly pulling away and looking at the others. At this point everyone was doing their own, stupid thing, Lily and Alyssa giggling over something on Lily's phone, Jaime dancing to her tiktok audios and Hedge cheering her on, and Christine reading something on her phone.

JAMES' POV

I slowly spoke up, scooting closer and closer to Max's side. He froze.
" Hey guys... Uhm, we're gonna go. There was this, this kid earlier and he kept blithering us. Let's go get our revenge, Max... "
I lightly smirked and watched his face light up, holding my hand and walking behind some equipment from the playground. Nobody can see us here. Max stuttered and looked up to me, showing his nervousness.
" Wh-what? This isn't our way to the kid. And also- what kid? "
I smirked and almost immediately latched my lips onto his, kissing him. He didn't pull away to my surprise, so we kept kissing and pushing the kiss deeper. I almost slipped my tongue in. I felt his body and pulled him by the waist closer to me.
" Uhm. Guys. "
Oh shit.
Jaime stood uncomfortably with her camera out, pointing directly at us. I flushed with embarrassment and so did Max. I avoided everyone for the rest of the day, and even got my mom to pick me up from camp early...
