Today was the day that my best friend Kiera was leaving Ireland for good, I was extremely upset about saying goodbye to the girl I classed as a sister.

She has helped me through a lot in the past few years even though she was going through a rough time herself and had her own troubles.

Kiera has had a pretty hard time over the last nine years; some serious things happened to her that she will never forget. At the age of seven Kiera's father started abusing her.

Her mother tried countless times to stop the abuse but her mother would always end up on the receiving end of her dads' fist.

In their worse cases they would both end up in the hospital forced by Kiera's father to make up some measly lie to keep him out of trouble.

Kiera's mother tried on many occasions to leave him but she always kept running back to him thinking he could change.

That all changed when one evening her father lashed out at both of them over something really stupid. As a result of his short temper Kieras father pushed her mother down the stairs hitting her head several times.

Kieras mother ended up in intensive care needing a major operation on her brain. Once again she was forced to keep quiet and say she had fallen and it was an accident.

She spent about three to four weeks in hospital recovering. As soon as she got home she left the house. Only this time for good but that wasn't the end of Kieras torment.

Her dad tracked her down and made one last move on her before he was arrested and sentenced to prison for eight years.

At least now she can have a happy life but unfortunately that can't be in Ireland as it brings back too many memories for her.

She is moving to England to have a fresh start and hopefully find someone who will care for her and look after her unlike her father.

I had to help Kiera pack over the past few weeks getting all her things ready for the big move.

Now the day is here, she made me promise her that I would skype her once a week and come and visit her in the next four weeks to make sure she had settled in. She said I can come and meet all the new friends she will make.

Kiera was quite nervous about leaving everything behind her. Her friends, her house, her job and her family .. Well what she had left of it. But she knew she had to go and that she couldn't stay in Ireland any longer.

I was making my way over to Kiera's house to say my goodbyes and wish her well. When I arrived she had all her bags at the door ready to put into the taxi.

She greeted me with a big hug when I went up to the door "I'll miss you so much Kelly "she said her words heartfelt." I'll miss you too but you have to promise not to be worrying about me and concentrate on your new life' I said still hugging my best friend tightly. "Oh and try find yourself a decent man" I told her with a wink trying to lighten the mood.

She laughed and just placed a weak smile on her face. We had just pulled out of the hug when the taxi arrived "Off you go" I said making our way out of the house.

I helped the taxi man put her bags in the car while she was making sure she had her tickets and passport. I opened the door and she got in the car. Within seconds the car was making its way down the driveway.

My best friend is moving to England.

Kiera's POV

As the car pulled away I could feel the tears well up in my eyes. They were both happy and sad tears. I was upset at the fact I was leaving my best friend in the world behind me, but I was also happy at the fact I was getting away from Ireland and leaving my past behind me.

When I get to England I'm starting a new life my past is forgotten.

I am quite excited to see what England has in hold for me and how things will turn out. Maybe I'll meet Niall Horan and fall deeply in love with him and we would live happily every after. 'Oh I wish' I thought to myself .I was knocked out of my little day dream at the sound of the taxi drivers voice saying 'we're here'.

I waited for about an hour after going through security until my flight was called. A lady the came on the intercom "flight 307 to England please start boarding" I suppose that's me. With that I took to my feet showed the security guard my ticket and boarded the plane. Goodbye Ireland, Goodbye past.
