The Sketchbook

Part I

[Background story]

Byeol is a high school student in Jeju academy. She is one of the prettiest students at school. She is someone who is quiet,good at art and loves cats. She does decently in school and is from class J-14. Since she is quiet,she does not really have much friends. She has one best friend named Hana who is from her class.

Introduction

Byeol was having math class. The math teacher,Mrs Park,was teaching the class algebra. Byeol was never good at math. It was the subject she hated most. She kept staring at the question on her worksheet blankly. She didn't know how to answer it.

Byeol,sighing: This is so hard. I hate math. Why can't the teacher find her X by herself?!

Hana: Haha i know right? I hate algebra too. Who in the right mind decided to add letters to a number equation?

Byeol: A psychopath.

Hana: Right??

Mrs Park: Alright. Who wants to answer this equation on the board?

Hana,whispering to Byeol: Heads down. Pretend you are solving the equation.

Byeol and Hana put both of their heads down.

Mrs Park: Can we get Byeol and Haru to come up to the front and solve the equation?

Byeol: Ugh

Hana: good luck haha

Byeol and Haru went up to the front. Haru was the smartest student in class. He majors in Math. Haru was solving the equation easily. It was a piece of cake for him. Meanwhile,Byeol was struggling with the equation. She didn't even know how to start.

Mrs Park: Oh right. Class, i'll be right back. I need to grab something from my office. Byeol and Haru,continue solving the equation while i'm gone.

Mrs Park immediately left the classroom. Byeol was still stuck at the question. Haru noticed her struggling so he decided to help her.

Haru,whispering to Byeol: Hey. Do you need help?

Byeol: Oh uh-

Haru: Let me.

Haru quickly wrote the correct answer on the board.

Byeol: Thank you.

Haru: No problem. If you need any help for Math,you can come to me anytime.

Byeol: Oh really? Thank you!

Haru,smiling widely at Byeol: No problem.

Soon after,Mrs Park came back to the classroom. Haru and Byeol went back to their seats and watched Mrs Park mark their work.

Mrs Park: Well done Byeol and Haru. Both of you are correct!

Hana: Girl how did you get it right? I thought you were dumb.

Byeol: I- Haru helped me.

Hana,feeling surprised: Haru helped you?

Byeol: Yeah. Luckily he did.

Hana: Woah. He never helps people.

Byeol: Oooh really?

Hana: Yeah. Unless....

Suddenly,the school bell rang. It was time for everyone to head home. Hana headed home first as she had a tuition to attend to. Byeol was keeping some books in her locker before leaving. Suddenly, Haru came towards her while holding a notebook.

Haru: Hey uh...

Byeol: Oh hi Haru! What brings you here?

Haru,passing the notebook to Byeol: I want to pass you this notebook.

Byeol: Oh why?

Haru: It has many useful math notes inside. You could use it. I mean- how are you going to pass your exams without even knowing how to start right?

Byeol: I guess that's true. When do you want them back?

Haru: Keep it. You need it more than I do.

Byeol: Really? Thank you so much!

Haru,smiling: No problem.

Byeol: Sorry but I have to go now. I'll see you tomorrow. Bye!

Haru,smiling: Alright. See ya!

Byeol left the school and walked home. On her way home,she saw an antique shop. They were selling many stuff for cheap prices so she decided to enter. Inside the shop,something particular caught her eye. It was a Sketchbook. The cover design was plain black. Byeol opened the book and found it empty. She only saw a drawing of a mirror in the book.

Byeol: Someone must have used it before...

She checked the back of the book to see the price. She was very shocked that the book was priced at only twenty cents.

Byeol: What?! It's so cheap! I'm going to buy it. I like drawing and sketching anyways.

Byeol decided to buy the book and handed it over to the cashier and paid for it. Soon after,she went back home. At home,she sat at her study desk,
feeling bored.She was thinking of what to do to kill her boredom. Suddenly,she had an idea.

Byeol: Wait,I can try sketching out something on my new notebook to kill my boredom!

Byeol took out her sketchbook and thought of what to draw.

Byeol: Hmm... what should i draw?

Byeol: Oh wait! I should draw my imaginary ideal type. He doesn't have to exist but i'll draw him anyway.

Byeol: Okay so he has a face that looks like a cat. He would be a korean guy. He must have a cute dimple and a round face. He must have an amazing bright and cute personality and must sing well.

Byeol started drawing her imaginary ideal type. After 30 minutes, she was done.

Byeol: Aww he looks adorable. I wish he was real. He looks so cute and boyfriend material haha. I'm such a good artist dang.

Byeol: Well that was fun. I'm going to head to bed right now. Can't be late for school tomorrow.

Byeol closed her sketchbook and kept it in her school bag. Then,she went to sleep. The next morning,she woke up early as per usual and headed to school. Once she had reached school,she saw Hana at the front gate and they both went to class.After a few minutes,the music teacher came in the classroom. The music teacher name was Miss Jasmine. People call her Miss Jas for short.

Miss Jas: Good morning students. For today,we have a new student in class.

Hana,whispering to Byeol: New student? At such a random timing?

Miss Jas: Class,please welcome Yang Jungwon!

Jungwon entered the classroom,smiled and bowed to everyone. Byeol was shocked and thrilled to bits. Jungwon looked exactly like how she drew her ideal type in her sketchbook.

Byeol,talking to herself: The dimples....The smile,the hair,the cat like visuals,the round face. It's exactly like how I drew in the sketchbook...
