Protecting the Alpha

*CHAPTER ONE*

My father came in through the front door smelling of blood and sweat. I stood there waiting for my orders before I was released to go to sleep. My uncle my fathers beta cringed at the looks of me. my hair looked greasy and limp and I was literally skin and bones. I was not allowed to eat nor to even do anything to keep myself healthy. My father walked past me without even looking in my direction. I held back a sigh knowing I was going to be standing here all night or until my father allowed me to move. my uncle put a reasuring hand on my shoulder before moving past me. "Drake don't you think you should release Leah from her duties. She will need her rest if she is to prepare for the other packs arrival." I inwordly cringed waiting for the violence that was sure to bust free from my father. My father gave a look of disdain before sneering at me "You are released from your duties at this time." He turned on his heel and walked away.

My uncle gave me a reasuring smile as I let out the breath I was holding. "Leah I will have Flame come up later tonight with some food and a new outfit for you. You are going to need strenght when this pack comes." I nodded my head at him and hurried upstairs to my room. upon entering I hurried up and locked the door. I sat on the window seat and stared at the stars. Wishing my mother was still here with me. While my mother was here she kept the abuse and crualty to a small amount. Keeping my father away from me when possible. She even kept my brother Lance busy for he was just as crual and malicious as our father. I was the first born despite my fathers disappointment. He wanted and felt he needed a son. So you can imagene his horror when I started to show sighns of being the alpha instead of my little brother. But when my mother was attacked by rouges and was killed everything changed. I was ordered not to speak a word to anyone. I was not to eat but when told to I also was not allowed to train or transform into my wolf. For my father was terrified I would become strong. I also became a form of a slave for the pack. At this time my father began grooming my brother to be alpha. For my father thought women as weak and unable to lead. I don't know how long I was staring out the window for untilled my cousin Flame knocked on the door. I streached out my crameped legs and groaned with the pain. My cousin Flame was one of the only people who were nice to me besides my uncle her father. Flame protected me when I needed it. She was feared by a lot of the wearwolfs in our pack. She eerily good at fighting and was extreamly fast. some argued that she was twice as good her father. She was also very beautiful with long curly orange and red hair with the lightest of green eyes I have ever seen. My brother wanted her to be his beta but to my surprise she said the only person she would be beta to was me. I shook my head at her declaration and Grined at her from ear to ear. I unlocked my door and ushered her in before she was seen. I relocked the door and gestured for her to have a seat. she handed me a paper bag and water bottle with a brown liquid. She smiled as she sat down on my bed. I sat on the floor and spread the food out in front of me. my mouth started to water uncontrollably. I closed my eyes and inhailed the scents. I took a drink out of the water bottle and looked up in surprise. My cousin chuckled before telling me it was wild cherry Pepsi.

I smiled and began to scarf down my food. when I was finished with it all I handed the bag and bottle to Flame to throw away. "I can get you more if you want Leah. You know I don't mind to." I smiled at her and shook my head at her. She nodded and set my trash next to her. " You know this pack that is coming is the Blood moon pack." My eyes grew wide with fright. The Blood moon pack was known for how curel and malicious they are. I shuttered at the thought of them being here. I was so lost in thought that when there was a huge banging at the door a jumped. Flame threw the trash and herself in my closet. I hurriedly opened the door to reviele my brothers new slut for the month. I kept my eyes down cast with my hair covering my face. "You stupid idiot! you answer the door on the first knock not the second time!" She screeched in my face. I felt her grab me around the throat and begin to squeeze the breath out of me. "You are nothing. you are nothing but a whore mutt." she hissed in my ear. At that moment I heard splintering wood and then Flame was there. She had the girls arm pinned behind her and had the girl pushed up against the wall.I was on the ground gasping for air. When my cousin began to speak."You will never speak,look,or come around my cousin agian. because if you do I will make sure you won't again. nod if you understand." The girl nodded. my cousin pushed the girl out of my room closing my door in the process. she looked over at my closet door and sighed. "I'll have dad buy and put up a new closet door for you." I nodded my head at her she opened my door and stepped out. " Oh before I forget i am just going to buy you an outfit tomorrow." I smiled at her and agian i nodded my head. I closed and locked it once again. I climbed into bed and pulled the covers up to my neck. Trying to get rid this sense of dread seeping into me.

****************************** CHAPTER 2.

I awoke the next day to a loud and consistent knocking on my door. I hurriedly got out of bed and opened my door. Thankfully my cousin Flame was behind it. I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding. Flame grinned and thrust a bag with cloths toiletries and other things I would need. I smilied hugely at her and huged her. "Come on you can use my bathroom since you don't have one." She grabbed my hand and dragged me down to her room. I stumbled some trying to keep up but I didn't fall on my face. It was summer vacation so a lot of the teenagers were still in bed asleep till about noon. so the halls were clear. no one to cause misery yet. upon entering my cousin's room I smiled I loved it it fit here personality perfectly sassy yet chic. she led me to her bathroom and switched the light on. "Here you go Leah. if you need me yell." she told me handing me towel. she shut the door as I took a huge breath. I turned on the shower and waited for it to become hot. I stepped in letting the hot water relax me. after finishing my shower I wrapped my hair in a towel and dried off with another. I opened the cloths bag Flame handed me. I could not possibly where this. it was a halter top dress that was short but was not slutey looking in away. I put it on and finally I took my chocolate colored hair and blowed dried it. I let my hair cascade down my back in its natural wave I stepped out not knowing my cousins friend Thayne was in her room. " whoa who's the hottie!?" he excliamed with a cocky grin on his face. my face turned red with embrassment. my cousin looked over at and replied with a smirk " Thaynr its Leah." Thayne looked from my cousin to me back to my cousin again. " This can't be Leah." I scowled at him and before I even thought of what I was doing huffed out a breath. " Why because now I'm cleaned up and I look halfway decent." my eyes grew wide and I slapped a hand over my mouth. my cousin looked at me in surprise and poor thayne looked like he was going to pass out. " Why are you able to talk." Flame finally spoke. For the first time since my mother was killed I spoke. "I have no idea Flame." I seen Thayne inching his way out of the room. before I could stop myself I growled "You will stay in this room with us Thayne. and you will not speak a word of this to anyone." Thayne lowered his head and stepped back into the room. my mouth dropped open and Flame looked to be lost in thought." Leah when is your birthday." I stood there thinking before replying back. "June 28" Flame ran to her computer desk and started flipping through something " uhh Leah today is your birthday. You are officially 18 years old!" Flame wishpered excitedly. I look at her confused for a moment. When finally everything clicked and fell into place. My alpha blood has finally came in full. Every order my father has placed over me is now invaled. I began to smile like a fool. my cousin had her arms crossed. "Umm does some one want to tell me what's going on. because I thought Lance was the true alpha." Flame looked over to Thayne and snarled. "No

that my friend is years of lies our true next alpha is standing right in front of you. And things are about to hit the fan around here." Both Flame and I were smiling as thayne was struck silent.
