Mike's Place-1983
Boston, MA

'Let you take me out
I know what you are all about, but when I did
I wasn't trying to lead you on'

I sang loudly as I used a brush as I microphone, Ricky was dancing along with me as Ralph was reading a magazine, and Mike, Bobby, and Ronnie were watching TV.

'Now you bring me home and tell me "good night's not enough for you".
I'm sorry, baby, I didn't mean to turn you on.
You read me wrong.
I wasn't trying to lead you on not like you did.'

Ricky sang as we danced around the living room, we strolled in front of the TV and sang in sync.

'I didn't mean to turn you on.
You read me wrong. (You read me wrong.)
I wasn't trying to lead you on.
I want a friend.
I didn't mean to turn you on.
Oh, I didn't mean to turn you on.'

"Boo," Ronnie tossed some pieces of popcorn at me and Ricky. "We tryin' to watch MTV," Mike says as he tries to watch the screen.

"Oh come on, y'all can do that anytime. Have some fun." I say as I hopped onto Mike's lap and grabbed some popcorn.

"Be haters, me and Lea sounded wonderful," Ricky said as he turned off the stereo.

"Keep sayin' that," Ralph says, not looking from his magazine.

"What are you reading anyway?" I walked over to him and looked at the magazine. It was an article of Janet Jackson.

"Oooh, I never read this one," I sat beside him on the couch and we both read the article.

"I'm hungry, any of y'all got money?" Ronnie asked, and the guys answered no.

"Kylea," I heard Ronnie call, I turned to him. "Yes, Ronnie?" I asked.

"Can you make something to eat?" Ronnie asks as he lays his head on my shoulder.

"Bobby can cook, ask him," I say as I looked at the TV.

"I don't feel like cooking, plus you cook better," Bobby says as he drinks his Kool-Aid.

"I don't wanna," I whined as I slouched down.

"Please, Lea," Mike asks as the five of them gave me puppy dog eyes.

'Don't break. Don't break. Don't break.' I thought as I bit my lip.

"Ughhhhh, fine," I sighed heavily and walked to the kitchen. "Any requests," I asked. "Mac and Cheese and hot wings!" They all yell in sync.

"Can't it be something else? That's gonna take forever," I groaned as I took the pot and pans out. "Call us when it's done then." They called from the living room.

A half-hour later

I pulled out the butter from the fridge and started humming a tune. Just as I turned, Bobby was behind me, I let out a squeal and dropped the butter. Bobby catches it and laughs.

"That's not funny, you scared me," I grabbed the butter and walked over to the stove. "You just easy to scare, I wasn't even trying."

"Why are you even here? I thought you were calling your 'girlfriend'." I say as I mixed the butter in the pot.

"That's not my girlfriend," Bobby answered.

"Right, I forgot. You don't do relationships." I mimicked him and laughed. "I don't sound like that," Bobby says.
