It was another game night at the Cullen house, and everyone had gathered around the living room. Emmett and Rosalie were on one side of the table, laughing and joking with each other, while Alice and Edward sat across from them, already exchanging knowing glances. Bella and Dean sat together, glancing nervously at the pile of poker chips in the middle, unsure if they were ready for what the night had in store.

Esme smiled gently, her eyes twinkling as she looked around at the family. Dorothea, who had never played poker before, looked confused but eager to learn, sitting with wide-eyed curiosity as the cards were shuffled in Carlisle's hands. "Alright, who's ready for poker?" Carlisle asked, setting down the cards.

The whole room was excited, especially Emmett. "I'll play," he said enthusiastically, clearly looking forward to the competition. "And I'll definitely win," he added, a cocky grin spreading across his face. "Don't get too cocky," Rosalie warned with a raised brow, already eyeing her cards, ready to take him down. "We'll see about that."

At first, the game went smoothly

At first, the game went smoothly. Everyone was getting into it, and there were a few laughs as people struggled with their hands. Dorothea, still a little unsure of the rules, kept peeking at her cards and showing them off to anyone who would look. "Wait, I'm supposed to hide them?" she asked innocently, causing everyone to chuckle.

Edward and Alice, on the other hand, had quickly fallen into their old habits. Alice kept glancing at her cards, then at the table, looking ahead to predict the future hands, while Edward, leaning back in his chair, was hearing everyone's thoughts as if they weren't even playing a game at all. "I don't think Emmett has a good hand," Alice whispered casually to Edward, who smirked and adjusted his chips.

"You might want to fold, Emmett," he added, his voice so casual it made Emmett pause, a suspicion forming in his mind. "I'm not folding!" Emmett grinned, though his gaze flickered to the others, wondering what was really going on. "What's going on here?" he asked, narrowing his eyes.

Carlisle leaned forward, eyebrow raised as he caught onto what was happening. "Alice, Edward, what exactly are you two doing?" he asked, his tone firm but not surprised. Alice blinked innocently, her lips curving into a teasing smile. "Just... predicting, you know? I can't help it," she said, shrugging as if it were nothing. Edward, equally nonchalant, shrugged as well. "Guilty as charged," he said with a grin. "What else am I supposed to do with my gift?"
