(chap.1) "House arrest"

Silence, that's all. You were off to take your nephew too his first court date. He keep staring at you, you had felt it.

"Are you mad at me?" He asked, you looked at him for a second before looking back at the road, "Oh no..I..I'm not mad, but i'm confused, like why did you punch your teacher? And why are you worried about me being mad? You should be worried about your mother." You said, he sighed "I..He...He said something about dad, and I..I kinda flipped out."

"Yeah..seems about right" you smiled, "What? What you mean?" He asked, "You get your anger from our side of the family. I'd bet your mother never told you about her big fight in school,". Kale had a puzzled look on his face "Mom got in a fight?"

"Oh yeah, some girl insulted your dad, hehe..your ma did not like it. I picked her up from detention a few hours later, she almost got expelled, but I managed to get her a week of ISS" You said, Kale nodded his head "I think you could do that for me?" He joked, you smiled while you lightly chuckled, "Kale, I think this is way passed ISS, even detention, to be honest you might go to jail. I mean you are a few months from eight teen. But hey if you do I'll pay for your bail"

"Yeah...yeah sure" He replied softly his smile fading away. Once again silence filled the car.

Kale got three months of house arrest. Your buddy, Janet Parker, had came over to set up Kale's moniter. She clicks the bracelet's buckle into place, a green LED light illuminates. It's on the top edge of the bracelet's band so Kale can easily see it if he looks down. Next to
this light is an additional red light that isn't on.

As she makes final checks she says "Okay, you... are all set... to go nowhere. Now, green means you're good, you're in the safe zone which covers about a sixty-foot radius from this guy here." She points to a big black box on the kitchen counter. "He's like a modem. He gets a constant signal from Mr. Bracelet that he sends through your phone line to the monitoring station downtown. So they know where you are, where you've been and what you're thinkin' 25/7."

"What if he accidentally goes beyond-" Julie was interupted by Parker, "Red light flashes. Means you've got about ten seconds to get your butt back to green, or else" She says, "The execution squad shows up?" Kale asked sarcassticly, "And they don't bring blindfolds. It's also tamper proof and waterproof. So don't try sticking your foot in a bucket of water and hopping across the line. It won't work, and you'll
look stupid. Now, I'll be checking up on you a lot. Here's my card, You're set up to pay his incarceration fee, Ms. Brecht?"

"No." She replied, "$12. Every day. I accept all major credit cards." Parker replied, "Great. My wallet's right over here-" you interjected "Nah, i'm gonna pay it." you said getting your wallet out, Julie smiled, said ok and walked away. You rolled your eyes at her, as you sat down to fill out the paperwork. "Oh and it may sound like a breeze, but trust me, I've seen all kinds of folks get a bit loopy before too long, some after just a day or two. So make sure you find lots of constructive things to keep yourself busy." Parker told Kale.

The next day you woke up to Kale shouting at the people on his Xbox, you slowly sat up and rubbed your eyes, "What..what time is it?" Kale took a quick glance at you before saying, "Oh..uh around nine twenty" you picked up your phone, "Kale, it's almost eleven thirty" You said getting off of the couch, "Where are my papers?" You asked, no response, "Kale! Where are my papers?" You asked again. "Uhh, ma put 'em on the counter, in the kitchen" He said.
