Ch 8: Return of the Order

Y/N's Pov

After getting married, Vergilia and I went back to mostly our normal routine of wake up, have her deal with any new demon attacks, and then after the day ended, we would put Nero to bed and sometimes get physical if we were feeling it.

I started teaching Nero to read. There were a few books meant for children that survived the library being destroyed. He picked it up quickly, probably because both me and Vergilia read a lot ourselves. One time, after finishing going through a book again, I decided to see his reaction when I brought up him showing his arm to the girl he liked, only for her to accept it like it was normal.

Y/N: "Nero, did you tell anyone about your arm?"

Nero: "Um..."

Y/N: "I'm just messing with you. I saw you with Kyrie."

Nero: "I made her promise not to tell anyone." He responded franticly.

Y/N: "Yeah, I figured you did. It's ok."

Nero: "She was the only one that noticed I was pulling my sleeve down. She dragged me outside to ask me about it."

Y/N: "Yeah, I saw her holding your hand." His face got red.

Nero: "I don't know why she did that!"

Y/N: "It's fine. I'm glad you have such good friends. Neither me or your mother really had that. Actually, that's why we stayed in Fortuna. We considered leaving, but once you started making friends here we decided not to." He smiled.

Nero: "I'm glad we didn't."

Y/N: "Maybe this time, we should have Credo and Kyrie over here instead."

Nero: "Can we?" I saw his eyes light up. I wondered how Credo felt about the way his little sister looked at Nero.

Y/N: "I'll talk to their parents about that."

Nero: "Thank you, dad." I got up and he went back to playing by himself. I went back out to talk to Vergilia. She was sitting at her desk, apparently not having any client to help today.

Y/N: "Easy day?"

Vergilia: "Yes. Thankfully." I leaned down and kissed her. "How is it going with Nero?"

Y/N: "Learning to read? Well, he's our kid. He's picking it up quickly. I thought about having his friends over here."

Vergilia: "I don't see why not. Does the older brother of that family notice the way his little sister acts around Nero?"

Y/N: "I don't know. I do know she actually got him to show his new demon arm. Apparently she noticed he was covering it up and dragged him outside during our wedding ceremony. When I saw them out there, he was using the arm to make an umbrella out there for both of them. Don't worry, he made sure she knows not to tell anyone."

Vergilia: "I think they're going to end up together. At least for a while."

Y/N: "Yeah. I think I know who's going to steal his first kiss." Vergilia looked away. "Everything ok?"

Vergilia: "I've been thinking... How long will I live? My father lived for 2000 years, but I don't know how long Dantine and I will. I just worry I'll be around much longer than you. I don't want to lose you."

Y/N: "We don't know that it'll be a problem. We'll cross that bridge when we get there, if we even need to at all."

Vegilia: "I just can't help but worry."

Y/N: "If that does happen, you'll still have Nero. It'll be ok."

Vergilia: "Of course you would say that." She smiled.
