Chapter 10

Something ain't right

The room is silent for a solid two minutes, me and Keira staring at each other and everyone else staring at us , staring at each other. It's an uncomfortable silence to say the least, I wanna know what the hell she's doing here.

Steelo walking into the room crunching on a bag of chips seems to pull everyone out of their trance.

Mike Mike clears his throat, "So uh... y'all two know each other?" He asks, scratching his head.

Everybody looks at him as if he's stupid , he couldn't be any slower..

"Anyways.... Keira can I talk to you... somewhere else?" I ask, getting up from August's lap and placing the box and pre rolled blunt on his lap in my place.

I didn't really give her a chance to say no to my request but oh well, she knows she didn't really have a choice anyway.

Keira followed me from the front room, through the kitchen and out to the back patio. I sat on the steps, waiting for her to take a seat next to me.

We sat there silently for a few minutes, the silence was killing me so I cleared my throat before speaking.

"Keira..."

"Mel..."

We said at the same time, a slight smile found its way onto my face. I shook my head and began speaking again, "So I know last time we talked I kinda hung up on you..."

"Yeah." Keira laughed softly.

I scrunch my face up a little, "Sorry about that." I say, scratching the back of my head.

"It's coo."

"So... What you doing here?"

She bites her lip gently, "Stephanie-"

"Your mom." I correct ,laughing lightly, Keira and her mom never really got along.

She rolls her eyes and waves a hand, "Whatever.. Anyways, her job sent her here for some business trip and I refused to be left at home alone, plus, when I heard she was coming to Atlanta I thought of you. I had to come see how my boo was doing, you know since you don't like to return calls and all." She says, rolling her eyes.

I pull my lips into my mouth, "I said sorry."

"I know."

I shake my head, then it hits me. "So.. how did you meet Mike Mike?" I ask, leaning against the railing.

She laughs and looks down, "We met at the mall.. we both wanted the same pair of shoes." She smiles.

I scratch behind my ear, finding it weird that she's smiling while talking about a dude.

"I know I know, that's weird right?" Bingo.

"Nah... not at all."

"Mel-.."

"Okay yeah, I find it weird as hell that you're smiling while talking about a dude... Last time I saw you, you would cringe if a nigga slapped your ass." I laughed, watching her cover her face.

"Guh, I'd be lying if I said a lot hasn't changed since you left." She said, running her fingers through her curls.

I sigh, "Yeah, same here.. I mean ever sinc-.."

I'm cut off by Mike Mike coming through the patio door, "Sorry to interrupt this little reunion between y'all two but sum came up, we gotta go." He said, giving Keira a look that I couldn't quite read into.
