Blood Secrets

Chapter 1

"Here we go", I tell myself. "First day of school."

My name is Kailene. Kailene Albeci. I'm about five foot four, strawberry-blonde curls, hazel eyes, and a weird taste in style and today is the first day of junior year. As usual, today is when all the cliques begin again and all us small, "weak" people get thrown around like we are last week's style. But what all the cool people don't know is that I'm cool in my own little way. Ok your probably wondering what I'm talking about so let me give you a long story short. It all started back in 9th grade, FRESHMAN YEAR.

It was my first year here at Longbeach High School. When I first got here, everybody was all over me trying to get me to join their cliques. However, what they didn't know was that I have a dirty little secret that I couldn't trust anybody with, not even my mom knows: I'm a vampire. I'm not the kind of vampire people think of. I don't viciously suck the blood out of my victims and I'm not afraid of garlic and silver. My kind is affected by holy or blessed water and sunlight, and the only things that can really penetrate my skin are steel and wooden stakes. Plus, I can eat regular human food. It doesn't help my power, but it stops the "hunger."

Just so you know, I can do a lot of pretty awesome things that humans cant. Such as run extremely fast, turn into animals with enough power, and speak with my mind; and I am actually friends with werewolves. No matter what people say about us and werewolves being enemies, we aren't. Actually, I have a friend from Canada, her name is Miera, and she is a werewolf. One of the originals, next heir in the Wacouna Tribe and they are immortal as well as vampires. Just saying. But back to my story...

I told them I'm not interested and that's when HE came around. The coolest, hottest guy in the whole school. Thank god he was in the same grade as I was. He was also in several of my classes. But that by itself was torture. You know the regular. Vampires are attracted to human blood so I tried as hard as I could to stay away but in the end it only turned out worse. He ended up asking me to the freshman dance.

Of course I couldn't resist, so I said yes, which was probably the worst day in history. So we went, we danced, and he ended up asking me out. So once again, I said yes. I couldn't tell him I am a vampire. He would tell the whole school and they would kill me. Even though I had already been dead for about 100 years before this. This is kind of creepy. Somebody over 100 years old is going out with someone 15... Anyway, back to my story.

He started football and became MVP of the season. Ohh yeah, his name is Jamie. Jamie Zetra. He is about five foot eleven, with wavy dark brown hair, eyes as green as the grass, and he has this certain way that he smiles that just makes my heart melt. The second I met him, I knew I was in love. But then we had to get down to business.

Our first class of the day was together. My teacher's name was Mrs. Vandertes. She was like the devil in a human body. All she did was lecture us until we fell asleep of boredom right in the middle of her class. Then, of course, we all got in trouble.

While school was going on we tried to stay in contact but as we suspected, school was tearing us apart. Then, somehow we got back together. By this time, the school year was half way over. So I told him to come over my house that weekend for a "study date." ever since then, we have been doing the same thing every weekend.

Where was I? Right, today is the first day of junior year. I had turned "17" over summer break so I have a job and made enough money to buy a car. So I get ready, drive to school, and meet Jamie in the hallway before first period. We hug and show each other where our lockers are.

"Kailene," Jamie says in his smooth, deep voice, "meet me outside when school ends, at the track."

I smile and say,"OK."
