Too soon for death jokes

"It's okay" I whispered.

"It's okay" I slowly repeat to my hand trying to stay calm and refrain from cutting it off due to the pain. All I get is a shaky nod from the guy and the thirtieth 'Thank you' muttered in my ear.

I shuffle backwards, away from the cliff because if he fell again, this time he would be on his own. I wasn't even going to contemplate saving him again-he was heavy.

I look around me and notice everybody standing there, their cameras towards us, mouths agape.

" Ummm, excuse me and when were you planning to help me?!" I shout angrily.

"She totally did that on purpose to get him to hug her. SHE PLANNED THIS!" A girl hissed. I knit my eyebrows in bewilderment and start judging his hug. Doesn't stink-actually he smells good, like Boss perfume good. Not to mention warm on this windy day. But my cramping body overlooked all of these pros as it was begging to be released from the overly long hug.

"Someone get me to the hospital please" I order. Everybody remains in their previous rigid posture, completely ignoring me.

"Anytime now would be fantastic" I announce, getting cranky. Someone draws out their phone and states that he will call an ambulance. Another frowns and starts arguing with the former about how that was his idea and he stole it, and another joins saying that they thought it first. The discussion was a long one.

In the far corner I see Darren coming towards the crowd, confused about what happened while he was having a potty break. After hearing parts of the conversations around him something in his head clicks and he pulls out his phone. Thank God for clever people.

The ambulance arrived and I was still encased in a hug, he was acting as though I were his lifeline.

I try to pry him off me, but due to his stubborn will, he resorts to clinging to my arm and I sigh.

"Come on, let's just reach the ambulance at least, we can't just stand here forever" I complained. He wouldn't respond, so I decided to drag him to the blaring vehicle.

As soon as we sat on the stretch of the ambulance, it advanced to the hospital.

I openly stare the cuts and scrapes along his arms, face and neck as a result of being dragged. Oops.

"Hello ma'am" Two gloved fingers snip me back into reality.

"Hi" I mutter in an idiot-like way.

"Do you feel dizzy or unable to comprehend my words?" The nurse asked.

"No I just twisted my wrist" I reply.

The nurse grabs my wrist and I flinch over- exaggeratedly to get my point across and hiss at him.

The nurse gives me an annoyed stare "I have to inspect it"

Next to me he- still holding onto my arm by the way- frowns and mouths a discrete 'sorry'.

"It's not your fault" I mouth back.

A look of confusion flits across his face and he shrugs his shoulders.

I shrug mine in reply.

He shrugs again, a bit more urgently this time.

I see, two can play this game. So I shrugged again.
