⚊ chapter twenty eight
Ni-ki is certainly making this trip worth-while. I did not answer his question at this morning, but it seems like he was the type of person to get his way.
So we are here in the food court next, where he ate a full meal and reasoned that their Captain is hard to them today. I ought to ask Heeseung about it later.
I got an milkshake and two cupcakes from the boxes of minion cupcakes that he bought for me. I promised I would pay him later once I got my wallet back.
Those two cupcakes were supposed to be three - the other one was stolen by the boy himself.
I had looked away at the sight of a girl tripping and her mother was complaining loudly on how she shouldn't be using her phone while walking.
When I looked back to Ni-ki, he was staring back at me with a chipmunk cheeks and a guilty smile as my eyes landed on the yellow icing at the corner of his lips.
"You eat my cupcake?", I whispered in mock-disbelief as I widen my eyes dramatically, "You monster"
"Awe come on, you still have many to even cry about one piece", Ni-ki cheeked back.
A small pout resided on my lips while I sip on my milkshake and ignore him. His face was honestly dumb and funny when I caught him, but as I felt more comfortable with Ni-ki, it became more fun to mess with him.
Now I see why my brother loves him even though I always see them bickering like an old couple every single day.
When we got up to leave, Ni-ki mumbled something under his breath that sounded like "Adorable as fuck" before walking off and I followed him out to the parking lot without a word.
"Is this not weird?", I asked suddenly on our drive home.
I had been lost in thoughts for a while I didn't even notice he had slow down his speed and not as fast as before. He surely had taken note of the boxes I carried in my hand, the other one wrapped around his waist.
"What?", is all I got in response.
"Us.. being out?", I elaborated for him, "I mean, we should be in school and not out here, going home after hanging out in the mall"
"This was like one of the rare chance we could be alone", he replied to me quietly, "You were more likely to go with him after this, but I'm glad we could do this for one day"
Ni-ki turned away from the road briefly to look at me through the side mirror. He had a softer smile that made his eyes look warm and his jaw soften.
I was momentarily stunned by how quickly his face could transform from the sour puss that he usually was.
"You should smile more. It makes you looks younger", I pointed out.
Ni-ki winced, "What? Are you telling me I look old?!"
"That's not what I meant and you know it. Be serious, Ni-ki!", I laughed at his ridiculousness.
"I'm damn serious here. But if it makes you happy, why did you say that? Are you getting attracted now to me?"
"Haha no.. I mean, you're handsome and all...", I took a pause as I considered my words, "but I already have a crush on someone else"
Ni-ki grunted in response as he turned for my village, "I bet he's someone nice, older and with a good set of teeth that it's shining over everything else", he shrugged.
"And he is good at everything, an ace in everyone's eyes, even to me", he added gruffly.
I giggled softly as I realized he knew about Heeseung and I all along. I think he had some ideas about us after all like the way their friends did.
