Chapter 8

A few hours earlier, on top of the wall that surrounds TEN's HQ.

"Was the attack a success?"

Hexl: Seems so, having a little insider in the organisation has it's uses after all.

Hexl looks down at the destruction below.

"And what of the boy?"

Hexl: Oh he's present, he seems to have discovered some new kind of power.

"Good, good. Wouldn't want to return something worthless now do we?"

Hexl: Tch. You and your methods...

"Watch your tone. Genius will soon arrive to your location. Make sure you two don't kill each other."

Hexl sighs.

Hexl: No promises.

The call disconnects.

-Chapter 8-

Present time.

Simon sits calmly in his office, looking out a big window. He sees all the destruction caused by the Anomalies.

Simon: How could this even happen...?

He wonders.

Until a he hears four distinct footsteps approaching the room. As the door swings open, he is relieved to see Seiros Squad safe and sound.

Ferd: Director sir! Are you alright?! Any injuries, where are the- Oh.

Estella: He seems to be fine.

Lyn: What a relief, I thought I'd have to learn how to heal cybernetics...

On the other hand, Ciel seemed perplexed.

Ciel: I'm surprised there's no security here on this floor, and we haven't seen a single Anomaly since we came up here too.

Simon: Oh that, Wilhelm's taken care of it already.

Simon points to the Eastern wall, as Wilhelm clutching an Anomaly head, walks through nonchalantly.

Wilhelm: All hostiles eliminated. As per your order.

He throws the head away as it slowly fades into dust.

Estella's face lights up ever so slightly after Wilhelm appears. Ciel wonders why, but dismisses it for other pressing matters.

Seiros Squad reports their mission and what had transpired as they arrived back to HQ. Simon waves a hand and Wilhelm leaves the room, probably to secure the area.

Simon: I saw how you four handled that Anomaly. It was quite ferocious don't you think?

Ciel: Yeah it was, is it's corpse still out there?

Simon: I'm afraid not, look.

The team rush to look out the glass pane window, and sure enough, the big carcass of the creature can no longer be found.

Ciel: W-what?-

Lyn: Aw but our kill...

Ferd: Sir, it was right there! You saw the fight-

Estella remained silent.

Simon: I know, I know, but it really did dissipate.

Ciel: Why?

Simon hesitates before speaking.

Simon: Trust me when I say this. It is classified information.

Ferd: Bullsh*t!
