The world was a haze. There was a high-pitched sound going off in my ears. The sight before me began to unfold and a loud pop rang out. A lush meadow appeared in front of me. There stood two girls.
“I’m coming to get you Sharon!” Annabel yelled as she ran towards the tree. The other little girl started to worry as Annabel approached her. “I told you, I would find you,” she chirped, running off again.
A soft haze, like a fairy dream brought me back. I shook the memory away. “How did I get here?” I mumbled. I walked in the direction of the main road. “Maybe some nice person will give me a ride home?”
I had reached the main road and tried to get a passing car’s attention. It was if I was invisible; the cars just drove past. “They’re probably just in a rush.”
The old corner shop was no longer there, nor was the park. Come to think of it everything was different, even the people. “Where has my home gone?”
I was invisible. No one took notice of me, just walked past. A building grabbed my attention; it looked like an old school. Everything went silent, and my surrounding started to look like an old black and white movie. There were four people standing before me. All of their faces were a blur; except one. It was me.
Two of them were pushing and shoving me around. They appeared to be males, while the other one was female, who just stood there, staring at me with horror as I fell. I could almost here the crack as my head made contact with the concrete. I was dead. I yelled and screamed for myself to get up, but it made no difference; I was dead.
A cold chill ran down my spine and the air turned as cold as ice. I was frozen in time, nothing would move. Everything around me was blurring together. Voices echoed around me, haunting me. What is going on?
I was in a cemetery. I looked around, scanning my surroundings. There was a woman. I thought to approach her but what was the point? I was just about to turn my back on the women but something stopped me.
“I’m sorry Sharon,” she sobbed, tears glistening in her eyes.
The voice sounded so familiar, but it couldn’t be, could it? “It’s all my fault. I was jealous. You had it all, whereas I was nobody. I thought maybe the guys scaring you would do something, but you ended up dying. I don’t think I can live with it anymore. I’m so sorry.”
Annabel began to get up, her body hunched over like she was carrying the guilt on her shoulders. I stood there shocked. She actually came here, to tell me everything. I walked up behind her. A shiver went up her spine. Like she knew I was there. She turned around, and looked right at my face.
“I forgive you Annabel,” I said and walked away.
