Josephine had adored Steve her entire life. They knew that they would end up together. They had been the will-they-won't-they of their friendship group since they were kids. Everyone knew that they were destined to be together. She was his rock through everything and he was her safe place to land when she needed to off-load her problems. Her father never approved of their relationship but she didn't care.
She knew Steve had always dreamed of fighting like his father had in the First World War and she had stood by him through constant rejections and desperate attempts to be brave like he had always wanted to be. She would be there with open arms when something went wrong to keep him going. Even when the neighbourhood kids bullied him, she stood by him. They were meant for each other.
But just as he was giving up hope, he was enlisted and she supported him. He started off doing shows across the country before eventually being sent overseas. And then he liberated prisoners from the Axis powers camp and everything changed. So, instead of receiving irregular phone calls, she had to send him letters and although she was never really sure if he received them, she didn't care.
They were meant to be and those letters connected them forever.
