I remember when I was a little kid, when I played with my mum and dad during weekends. My dad was a banker while my mum was a teacher at my school. When they came from work they always gave me lots of attention.

During weekdays, we'd go out and have fun. Then have a relaxing afternoon at the park. I remember the ducks I saw on the lake of the park and their little ducklings following closely behind them.

Those times were really fun and the best time of my life. But everything came apart when my parents died. I was around ten years at that time, it was such a devastating and heart breaking news. It made me cry for a long time.

After my parents were buried, my uncle and aunt volunteered to take care of me. For the first few days I noticed a little hostility towards me from my aunt and uncle. Then sometimes my uncle out of grief would curse my father, blaming him for the death of my mum.

My uncle was the brother of my mum, and he cared for my mum very much. He didn't really like my dad very much though. So when they died, he'd always blame my dad.

That hatred was soon transferred to me. He'd sometimes beat me, then stop sometimes as if coming to his senses. After weeks of beating, he decided to ignore me. He didn't talk to me or listened to me.

It continued like that until a few months later when his wife died. Out of his grief, he started doing drugs. He blamed me for his wife's death. He locked me up in the basement leaving me days without food, he'd beat me when he's angry and do all sorts of things to me.

I remember when I was around thirteen years old. My uncle wasn't around when I got back home so I left home and went to a river. I stood at it's edge and with a splash I fell in. I couldn't breathe, my consciousness was going. I had come there that day just to die, 'mum, dad.' I cried out. ' I'm coming to meet you.' I thought.

I could hear sounds from above and saw some figures above. My vision was blurring and I knew I was dying. Then I heard a sound as though something was dropped into the water. I struggled to see what it was, but I couldn't and the next thing I knew I woke up on a hospital bed.

Once I opened my eyes, the bright light almost made me blind. Once my eyes was used to the light I scanned my environment. I then heard foot steps, I looked to see who it was. I saw a man who looked at me.
" Thank goodness you're awake." He said.

I didn't know who he was, but soon I got to discover he was my savior. That if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have been here right now.

I now live with, my uncle was reported for child abuse after I told the man who saved me the truth. He was taken to jail and my savior volunteered to take me in since I had no other relatives. He has been really nice to me and helped me overcome my past. It's been four years since then and I'm now seventeen. I now live a normal life and I also have friends now at school.
