As the jet descended for landing after an all night flight, the ambassador caught her assistant, Shay, staring out the small oval window in awe. While the weight of this job was heavy on her now, she remembered a similar mesmerized bliss on her first visit to the Tokyo Empire. She smiled softly. "I'm excited for you to see the city, Shay. We'll get lunch in Asakusa after our first military appointment."

"It's wonderful to be working with you in person again, Ambassador." Shay tried to keep her eyes from the clouds.

Her boss tipped her head toward the window. "Enjoy the view. It's a beautiful city."

The stairs folded out, and Shay's unfamiliarity with the role was apparent in her response to the 6 military vehicles stationed outside the jet "Are those- for you?"

"Yes."

"They don't let you go see your family, first?"

"Nope." The ambassador slid engineering schematics back into her vintage briefcase and stood to deboard the plane.

She descended the stairs in a pristine black suit and heels to the booming greeting of General Oze. "Madam Ambassador! Welcome back to the Tokyo Empire."

"Thank you, General Oze. I'd like to introduce you to my assistant."

Recalling her required culture training prior to travel, Shay bowed. "It's an honor to meet you, General Oze."

"Welcome, welcome." Oze waved the women to follow him into the monstrous vehicles.

"They really must have unlimited energy..." Shay whispered behind her mentor, taken aback by the contrast to the small cars back home.

"How's your little girl doing, General?" The Ambassador asked sincerely and strategically to crack the tough exterior the general put up in front of his subordinates.

"You know how toddlers are," He shook his head. "But Maki's perfect. You'll have to join our family for dinner sometime, once you are settled back in from your trip. Bring your family."

The Ambassador smiled. "I'd love to. We'll make it happen."

In a large packed auditorium, Shay watched the ambassador deliver an exceptional presentation to the military regarding their battery charged weapons. "Your battleships and cargo ships are truly impressive, but should you need to spend an elongated time at sea, we'd also like to offer you these." The Ambassador pulled schematics for solar panels from her briefcase. "You can recharge, even when you aren't connected to your power source. We use these everywhere in the Euro Empire."

The military, thrilled, called Haijima to review the schematics as the foreigners made their way to lunch in Asakusa.

Shay, deeply culture shocked, admired the bustling market street, until her boss stopped at a small restaurant with just 3 stools and a counter. "Konro!"

"Madam Ambassador, great to see you again!" His smooth voice called back from behind a curtain.

"I'd like to introduce you to Shay, my assistant. Shay, this is Konro. He's a firefighter in Asakusa's neighborhood watch, but also makes the best soba in the whole empire."

Shay tried not to gawk at the gorgeous man that stepped out from behind that cloth. 6'2", early 20s, built like a truck, broad shoulders, strong arms, long dark hair, and the kindest blue eyes she'd ever seen. "Nah, Jewels. I still have a lot to learn." He turned his attention to Shay with a charming smile. "Pleasure to meet you, Shay. Is it your first time in Tokyo?"
