Chapter 14: Remembering the Ones Who Passed Away

It has been four months since the Jonas Virus outbreak happened. Everyone has reunited with their families, well everyone but Joonyeong since his little brother is still out there as well as Changmin's older brother.

Gwinam and I learned that our dad was the person who pointed his gun at us and told us not to move when we were at the rooftop. He even begged his boss to go back and get us, but the answer was always no. Of course we forgave him since he had no choice but to follow orders.

Every night I would sneak out of the camp while everyone was asleep to make my own memorial. I looked straight ahead to see the same fire pit my friends and I made four months ago. I have to tell Gyeongsu about this.

I went back to the camp and in my room without getting caught. Now I put Gyeongsu in my arms again knowing our baby is going to be born in five months.

The Next Day

I was walking when I saw Gyeongsu and Cheongsan talking. I smiled knowing Cheongsan is happy that Gyeongsu and I are going to start a family soon.

Gyeongsu saw me and bid Cheongsan a farewell even though they are going to hangout again in an hour. "Hey Daehyun." How can Gyeongsu be so cute just by saying hello? "Hey Gyeongsu," I told him as I hugged him.

A few minutes later I broke the hug remembering the news I have to tell him. "Gyeongsu, I am going to tell you something and you have to promise me not to tell anyone about this." Gyeongsu nods his head knowing I am telling him something no one else knows.

"Last night I snuck out of here to make a mini memorial for our other friends. Then I looked straight ahead to see the same fire pit being used. I think we should sneak out tonight." Yeah I made Gyeongsu shocked from what I just told him. Mission accomplished I guess.

"Promise me you won't tell anyone?" I asked him knowing I might get him into trouble if we got caught. "I promise." He promised me as he held my hand and we walked to where the others are at.

Time Skip

I made my way to the usual spot I go to when I sneak out to meet up with Gyeongsu. I saw him and the rest of the gang including Mrs.Park, Soju, Cheongsan's mom, and officer Song Jaeik who took Changmin under his wing when he learned that Changmin's parents got affected by the virus and doesn't know if his older brother is alive or not.

"Gyeongsu, you promised me you wouldn't tell anyone." I got a little bit upset since Gyeongsu broke the promise. "I only told Suhyeok about this," yeah I am no longer mad at Gyeongsu since Suhyeok told Daesu and Daesu told everyone else.

We used a diy rope to climb over the wall and they saw the mini memorial I made. Joonyeong saw his younger brother's name while Changmin saw his older brother's name. Wujin and Gwinam are comforting them since they can hear them about to cry.

"Holy shit, Daehyun is telling the truth. Look guys." Normally Jimin would get in trouble for cursing, but Mrs.Park let it slide knowing we went through hell to survive.

After a few minutes of walking, we finally made it to the ashy school seeing dead bodies that were once humans. We made it to the rooftop with the fire pit still having fire. We were standing by the fire thinking of all of the memories before the outbreak happened.

"I still can't believe that we were trying everything to survive the apocalypse because my so-called father created the virus." Jinsu said with all of his emotions coming out and Minjae is rubbing his back to comfort him.

"You know, the same day the virus happened was the day I was supposed to tutor Lee Jingoo for history. Gwinam and I have known him since we were kids. We promised him that we would protect him from bullies, but I don't know if he is alive or not." I felt Gyeongsu squeezing my hand after I revealed the truth.

"Namra, what's wrong?" Onjo asked her girlfriend since Namra is looking around. "I smell people." Namra told us while Cheongsan, Gwinam, and Wujin confirmed her statement. "Hey come out from where you are hiding, I promise that we won't hurt you." Namra informed the stranger to come out of their hiding spot.

When we finally saw what the person looked like, all of our eyes widened. "Baekhyun?" Joonyeong said in disbelief since the soldiers kept on saying that Baekhyun is dead. "Joonyeong?" Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry.

"Oh my god." Damn I started crying when Joonyeong ran to Baekhyun and gave him a hug. Baekhyun broke the hug. " Come out guys, it's safe to come out." We were confused about what Baekhyun just said. Then we saw two more people coming towards us. No way.

"Daesung!" Changmin ran to his older brother and hugged him while Gwinam and I recognized the third person. "Jingoo!" He ran to us crying knowing we are alive while everyone else is smiling.

"You guys should come back to the camp with us. Namra, Cheongsan, Gwinam, and I will help you guys control your hunger since you guys are halfbies as well." I swear I saw sparkle in their eyes when Wujin told them they are halfbies as well.

We made it back to the camp without getting caught and fell asleep. I fell asleep peacefully knowing my brother, my boyfriend, my dad, and my friends survived this mess four months ago, but we still remember those who passed away.
