Narrator's POV

Josh proceeded to yank Isaac back to a vertical basis and they supported each other all the way to the couch. Being very winded from their fight, they sat down to allow their breaths to stabilize.

Their upstairs background had left a trail of destruction as evidence of their encounter. A family portrait of what must have been a three year old Isabel, her father in a clean cut three piece suit, and her mother in a beautiful ballroom gown with a baby in her hands, had been shuttered to pieces on the ground. A vase, which Isaac had gotten her for valentine's day to put the flowers in had been tossed across the room with the aim to decapitate one of the boys. The bathroom door was cracked right in the middle while the bedroom door was pulled right off its bottom hinge.

The boys sat in complete silence, each lost in a world of their own, until it became uncomfortable for the ever talkative Josh.

"So... What is it that you do here?" He inquired, with his eyes closed.

Isaac turned his head to Josh to answer, but noticed the huge lump forming on his forehead, so he stood up and headed to the fridge.

"Am down at the business school. Majoring in sales and marketing and I will learn my way to the top of the business world." He said, going through the contents of the fridge and groaning in annoyance when he doesn't find what he is looking for.

"You looking for the ice?" Josh called from the couch, to which Isaac replied with a nod, without looking at him. "There is a packet of peas which I had taken out of the freezer to defrost while I waited for my gi- for Isabel to return. It was date night."  He whisperer the last part under his breath.

Isaac clenched his jaw subconsciously, which caused a lot of pain to shoot through him. Note to self, get the jaw checked out. He knew he wanted revenge. So he grabbed the bag and tossed it over to Josh, who quickly placed it on his forehead followed by a sigh of relief.

Isaac never really considered himself a bad person. He had no desire to unnecessarily hurt anyone and he did his part in community service due to the responsibility that a business has to the community it is located in. He didn't consider himself a good person too. I mean he wasn't intentionally malicious nor would he normally go out of his way to hurt someone, but, he knew his desire to thrive in business would require him to be neither a good or bad person. His father was a good man, yes, but his success was a one in a million cosmic fluke. People would take advantage of his good heart when he first ventured into business and that almost cost him everything and Isaac knew this so he could never be a good nor bad person when it came to business.

Over by the couch, Josh was just as hurt. His whole life, he was determined to not be a cliché. He had noticed how much bulkier he was, compared to his age mates when he was 11. His good looks also never went by unnoticed. He was raised by a single mother as the youngest of three boys and one of six children overall. He was trained by his brothers at a very young age since they were the only father figure he had.

He was determined to be a success in order to provide for his family's every need. He had also not taken to the bad boy life, as he always knew what he wanted out of life. He also knew that since football was his God given gift, football was the only thing he could pursue. It had also been lingering at the back of his mind, how the odds of making it big were limited by a lot if factors, including exposure and injuries.

He remembered clearly his first encounter with the woman who had taken his breath away. He was leaving from a late practice when he saw her walking alone from class. When she saw him, she blushed slightly before walking away. She looked so innocent, so loving and so kind. He knew there and then that he had found the one. He was willing to do anything for her. She was something out of a fairytale. Until twenty minutes ago, he was happy with her. He had not applied as much effort as he had initially intended into his sport because it left little time to treat her the way he believed she deserved.
