During the practice game with Shuuhoku yesterday, Tanba-san got into an accident. Shuuhoku's pitcher pitched a dead ball to his jaw, injuring Tanba-san. I couldn't forget the solemn and agonized look on the senpai's yesterday. They were all so sad.

I finally felt better yesterday night when our family doctor arrived and gave me prescriptions. He also took a bit of blood from me and used it to run a diagnostic test to see if I had gotten a serious illness. It's Monday morning and I was standing in front of the vending, talking to grandma on the phone about my fever.

"Are you finally feeling better, munchkin?" A hint of worry resonates from the elderly on the line.

"Mhm! I'm finally better, Grandma!" I retorted cheerfully.

I heard a sigh of relief from the other line, "Alright. Stay safe there and eat lots of healthy foods, okay?" She reminded.

"Mhm! I will!"

"Okay, bye bye my munchkin. Love you!"

"I love you, too! Bye!"

And the line ended. A person suddenly stepped out into my field of view, sending me a few feet into the air with a yelp. Thankfully I'd ended the call before all that though.

The tall bespectacled catcher came to view, "Oh were you talking on the phone?" He inquired, his eyes glancing at my phone.

"Yeah, to my grandma," my face beamed red.

"For a second, I thought it was some boy from back home that you'd made a cheesy promise to," he snickered.

I rolled my eyes. Leave it to this guy to push my buttons. "You know Miyuki," my lips pulled into a patient smile, "these jokes might have been funny in the past, but at this point, it just feels a tad disrespectful."

The confusion etched on his face was all I needed to go on. "I already told you I'm not interested in dating." My smile dropped to a look of displeasure as I looked away from him, "Is it too much to respect that I'm not interested in dating right now? Or do I have to be relentlessly teased for not being like every other girl?"

There was a moment of silence as he considered what I had said. Feeling a little bit awkward I broke the silence, "So what did you want from me? Surely you didn't come here just to tease me?"

It took a moment, but he responded with a neutral, "I wanted to see if you wanted to eat with us in the cafeteria."

I was hit by a pang of guilt, he'd come out of concern for my wellbeing and I'd responded by accusing him of disrespect.

But as I followed him in silence I realized there was nothing to be guilty about. He needed to know that what he was doing was borderline disrespectful. I was open with him because I valued his friendship. If he couldn't see that... well... I'd make some new friends!

Miyuki and I haven't spoken for two days which was fine since I was surrounded by the third year's, Ira, and Mochi for that period. But today, as we were eating lunch, the catcher wasn't with us. Yes, we haven't spoken for two days but he joined with us during lunchtime.

"Oi, Mochi." I call, the shortstop chirped up to glance at me, "Where's Miyuki?"

He gulped down the food he was eating before responding, "He's been M.I.A since morning practice. You haven't noticed?"
