☔ Danielle ☔
The cold fresh air hit my body as I think deep thoughts that kept appearing on my mind. Here I am again, resting my mind and my body at the familiar surrounding I'm always in.
Sitting at the bench alone every sunday morning as my hands rested inside the pockets of my leather jacket. Swaying grass and falling leaves surrounded the park. The youth playing sports, riding bikes, and having fun with each other made the beautiful park crowded. Families having picnics and couples sitting down to every benches planted in the park.
I always call it the park 'cause it is the park. This park flashed me so many memories. This is where I grew up and spent most of my childhood. This is where I spotted my first crushes and met my first friends. And now, i'm all alone in the park just cooling myself down because i'm tired.. Physically and emotionally.
"Hello." A deep raspy voice startled me, making me jump and tilt my head to see who greeted me. He looks friendly and charming with that green glistening eyes that locked with me and his light pink lips that formed a smile. His chocolate-colored curls and defined jaw line made my mind to call him attractive.
"Would you mind if I sit here with you?" He asked, his cheeky smile never leaving his face. "Of course not." I answered, moving aside to give him more space.
"I'm sorry if i'm bothering you. It's just that all the benches are occupied with couples and I found you alone and I just want to give you company," He spoke while his fingers play with his digital camera that hanged on his neck, "I could just leave if you want to." He looked at me with a concerned look. "No, no, It's fine! Please, stay." I exclaimed before saying, "I'm actually glad you came here. I'm-I'm a bit lonely." And that's true, I actually enjoyed his company so far.
"I'm Harry Styles." He let out a hand and stared at it as I realized he was waiting for me to shake it. I took his hand and shook it cheerfully, "Oh, um, I'm Danielle. Danielle Castillo." And I continued to scan the environment while inhaling and exhaling out a calm sigh.
Click, the shutter sound of the camera gained my attention to him as I realized he took a candid picture of me.
"Hey, Delete that!" I laughed and nudged him.
"I'm sorry. You're just so beautiful and it'd the perfect time to capture it." He chuckled and returned my gesture. My face became red after his compliment and it also made my heart flutter.
"Actually, you're so handsome too," I told him honestly, "And, you're quite the charmer."
"I know." He smirked, putting both his hands under his chin before doing a duck face that made us both laugh.
And, that's where our friendship started that every sunday morning we meet each other at the same park, the same bench. That sometimes we bring each other coffee and food, we bring our own camera and take pictures of everything, or sometimes I tease him because of how slow he talks. Somehow, Our friendship became stronger each day and I feel connected to him that I fell in love with him and I want us to be more than just friends that one sunday morning, I confessed my deep hidden love for him.
"Harry,"
"Danielle," He mocked me.
I laughed, "Harry, I need to talk to you about something,"
"Go ahead," He sipped his coffee and I suddenly felt nervous that my palms started to sweat. I grabbed my cup of coffee from the space between us and looked down.
I stirred my coffee using a little spoon slowly and whispered, "I like you," And looked up to see his reaction.
He gave me a warm smile, "I like you too, Danielle,"
"No, Harry. I.. like-like you,"
Then his smile showed his teeth as it got bigger, "I feel the same way,"
And after that, my heart jumped and butterflies erupted my stomach. "R-Really?"
He chuckled, "Really, really." He stood up and stared at the sky as I did the same. The sky is gray and dark; It looked like it was going to rain.
Our eyes contacted before he gave me his hand. I took it and stood up, settling my unfinished cup of coffee on the bench. My heartbeart started to go up and down, side to side as raindrops started to drop in my hair. It's happening. It's all that I imagined since childhood.
Me and the boy that I love in the rain. I grinned so wide, ear to ear, as Harry held both my hands and laughed because of how cheesy we look. His laugh is contagious that it made me laugh too but we don't care.
We don't care how much dorky we look or the stares that burns our skin. We don't care if we're wet and everybody's rushing to leave. I suddenly only care about him and I.
Our foreheads touched.
"I love everything about you," Harry reminded me.
"And, I love you," I blushed and whispered as I said the three words I've been wanting to tell him in the park. In our park.
And, he cupped my face,
Our noses touched,
The rain dripped harder,
I started to close my eyes,
His face closed the space between us,
then, his lips touched mine,
And, our love sparked.
A kiss in the rain.
It's all that I wished for.
