The dimly lit tavern was full of people listening to a bard singing, cheering him on while ordering another jug of ale, but the bard in question had his eyes on only one person who sat little farther than others, smiling at him softly as he sang. You had been Jaskier's one true love for years now, he wanted you to be his forever. You laughed at his jokes as if you hadn't heard them a thousand times before, and you kissed him like it meant something - a relationship with you was very different from his earlier relationships.

He had had a lot of flings and girlfriends, many more lovers even that those he cared about dearly and took out for dinner or night out, and yet somehow none of them really understood him the way you did. You had found the exact, perfect words for him when he came back from traveling with the Witcher, being sad and slightly bitter over losing a friend when Geralt had exploded on him about his own miserable life. He finished the song off with a flourish of strings and everyone applauded and cheered, and Jaskier caught a sight of you clapping too. He put his lute onto his side as he made his way to you, playfully placing his hat on you. "You liked it?"

"I loved it," you answered with a bright smile as you patted your heart.

"Well, I wouldn't have been able to do it without you," Jaskier said, taking both your hands in his.

"Oh please." You laughed, blushing brightly as you pulled him down into a kiss as you combed your fingers through his hair. You laughed into the kiss and he pulled back.

"What?"

"You have so much hair now, I can soon braid it," you joked. He chuckled and leaned in again to steal another quick, warm kiss before he pulled back and put his arm around you instead.

"I said it in the song but I meant it. It's not fair how much I love you," Jaskier muttered suddenly, and you frowned.

"How so?"

"If anything ever happened to you... I'd be absolutely lost without you," he admitted quietly.

"Nothing will happen to me," you assured him. "Even in this crazy, dangerous world, I know you're here. And even if I was to face death, I always have a reason to fight and survive."

He nodded, kissing your temple. "I love you, you know that right?"

"Yeah, I know." you murmured and leaned your head against him. "But if you're giving me any more kisses, I'll drown."
