You were only 6 when you met Rengoku. You met him during the Mugen Train incident. Before everyone fell asleep, you were watching the four Demon Slayers from the corner. You sat in the back of the cart, hidden behind a few people.
When everyone fell asleep you tried desperately to wake the Demon Slayers, but when you noticed Nezuko making her way out of her box you ran away.
When the train derailed, you were launched out of one of the windows and watched as an intense battle between the Flame Pillar and an Upper Moon demon began. However, when the sun began to rise and the demon, Akaza, made his escape, a horrifying realization struck you. The Flame Pillar would die. He had been punched straight through the stomach and would surely bleed out once Akaza's severed hand faded.
There were two options before you: Run away from the rising sun and survive, leaving the Hashira to die. Or risk your life to save the dying male. You took a deep breath, before making your decision. You began to run towards the man, glancing back towards the horizon from time to time.
Rengoku, at that point, was beginning to fade. His vision blurred, but went back to being clear for a moment when the feeling of someone grabbing one of his hands caught his attention. His gaze turned to his hand, which was being held by two much smaller ones. And then, a soft yet terrified voice cut through the air.
"Blood Demon Art: Rewind!" The voice sobbed. Rengoku turned his gaze to completely see the person before him, a demon child. She wore a pastel yellow sunhat with a white ribbon around it. She wore a dress as well, being primarily white with a floral design. She had soft blue shoes with a white flower on the tops. Her skin was (S/C) and she had (H/L) (H/C) hair. There were strange marks all over her skin, that began to glow as she spoke.
There was a strange light, a mix of silvers and golds that originated from the marks on the girl's body, and then Rengoku fell unconscious.
When Rengoku woke up, the day had already come and gone, and it was late at night. Tanjiro was next to the bed the Pillar had been laid upon, Inosuke was asleep on the other side of the room and Zenitsu was nowhere to be seen. Nezuko was in the corner of the room, holding someone in her arms. She appeared to be dozing off. Rengoku moved his hand, almost immediately finding that nothing hurt at all. The sudden movement caught Tanjiro's attention.
"Mr. Rengoku! You're awake!" Tanjiro cried. Rengoku let out a quiet groan as he sat up. Nothing. No pain, no dizziness, nothing. Rengoku felt fine, better than ever.
"How are you feeling? We all go so worried when you passed out! Even Inosuke!" Tanjiro asked. Inosuke's voice was sudden heard, sounding a bit raspy from having been asleep.
"What did you say, Gonpachiro?!" The masked male yelled. Tanjiro ignored the wild boy, shaking his head.
"I feel just fine! Never better!" Rengoku grinned, his loud voice echoing throughout the room.
"However...I do have questions!" The Flame Pillar continued. Tanjiro nodded.
"It's about what happened, right?" Tanjiro guessed. Rengoku nodded.
"How am I alive? I saw the light, my life flashed before my very eyes! And then..." Rengoku trailed off.
"There was a child." Rengoku's voice now became more hushed, likely due to confusion.
"That child you saw, she was a demon." Tanjiro began.
"She went out of her way to save you, even if it meant risking her life due to the sun rising. She used her Blood Demon Art to heal you." Tanjiro explained.
"I think that she's like Nezuko." He then looked over at his sister.
"I take it that she has died?" Rengoku sighed. Tanjiro then lit up.
"No! We managed to get her away from the sunlight in time by covering her with my haori!" Tanjiro then beamed. Rengoku blinked, before grinning widely.
"That's wonderful! Where is she?" Rengoku asked. Tanjiro pointed to his sister, who was now more alert from the booming voice of the Hashira. She moved her arms a bit, nodding towards the previously unknown figure in her arms. This was the little girl that had saved him. This was you, (Y/N), the Rewinding Demon.
You were asleep in Nezuko's arms, tiny snores could be heard as Nezuko stood up and walked over to Rengoku, the demon child held gently in her grasp. Once you were withing arms length, Rengoku reached out and carefully rested his hand onto your head.
"She passed out after using her Blood Demon Art. It seems to have taken a toll on her. We have no idea when she'll wake up." Tanjiro informed the Hashira. Rengoku nodded.
"I see..." He muttered, before letting out a quiet sigh.
"Thank you for your aid." Rengoku smiled at the sleeping child. Her only response was a quiet snore, as she lightly curled in on herself.
"I don't think she's eaten anybody. Demons that have eaten people typically smell different. She smells similar to Nezuko." Tanjiro stated. Rengoku retracted his hand.
"I'll speak to the other Hashiras, as well as Oyakata-Sama about her fate." Rengoku said. With that, Nezuko began to walk towards the door.
"We've been brought to a housing facility in a nearby town. Tomorrow we'll head back to the Butterfly Estate to make sure everyone's ok." Tanjiro sighed, standing up.
"Now, we should probably get some rest. Goodnight, Mr. Rengoku." Tanjiro waved goodbye to the Hashira, walking out as well.
When the morning came around, Rengoku found himself in the dining area with Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke. They were eating breakfast, however the Flame Pillar had finished a while ago. He then stood up, pushing his chair in.
"Young Kamado! Where did your sister take the child last night?" Rengoku asked rather loudly. Tanjiro swallowed what he had in his mouth before speaking.
"The room right across from yours, I think." The burgundy haired boy responded. Rengoku bid the three of the farewell, before making his way to the room Tanjiro had mentioned.
When Rengoku opened the door, he finally saw his savior. The little girl that risked herself for his sake. She was awake, sitting up on the bed with her hat in her lap. Her gaze immediately turned towards him once he entered. She seemed scared.
"Ah, good morning!" Rengoku beamed. No response, just a wide eyed stare.
"I assume you're confused. Perhaps scared?" Rengoku sighed. The smallest of nods was seen from the girl. Rengoku walked over to the girl, kneeling down next to the bed she rested upon.
"Well, first of all I would like to thank you for saving me. I truly appreciate it." The Flame Pillar smiled. A shy smile spread across the demon's face as she nodded her head.
"And second of all! My name is Kyojouro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira! And your name is...?" He prompted.
"(Y/N)" You muttered quietly. The blonde male nodded.
"And finally!" He suddenly beamed again.
"I'm going to speak to the rest of the Hashiras about your fate. It's obvious that you don't carry malicious intent." Rengoku lifted his hand, gently resting it on your head. For a split second, you flinched. This concerned Rengoku, but he decided not to push too much.
"We'll be heading out soon enough, so be ready!" He then smiled as he stood up. You stared up at him, before nodding and placing your hat onto your head.
