There once was a teenage boy whose always on his phone scrolling through social media to escape his sadness. Andy has been feeling burnout in his studies in the past few days. He hasn't told anybody about his problems even his family because he's scared that they will be angry or disappointed in him. So, Andy decided to use social media to escape reality.
One day, his mom asked, "How's your day sweetie?" Andy looked at his mom and said quietly, "I'm fine mom." So Andy went up to his room and shuts his door loudly. His mom started to worry about Andy.
The next morning, Andy's Mom decided to talk to his teacher of Andy to know what's been going on with Andy. The teacher said politely, "He's been a great student. He's been participating in every class session but suddenly, he's been different. His test scores started to fail and he hasn't been paying attention in class." So the mom decided to thank the teacher and went home to talk to Andy.
When his Mom went home, she goes directly to his son, Andy. When his mom opened the door, he saw Andy laying down in his bed looking at his phone and scrolling through social media. So the mom was a bit confused and decided to talk to Andy over dinner. Just before leaving his room, his mom heard a bit of crying. So his mom looked at him and she saw him crying. Andy told her mom to stop looking and go away but his mom hugged Andy and told him, "It's ok Andy. I'm not angry at you. You can tell me what's going on."
Andy refuses and sadly said, "I don't want to. You'll just be angry and disappointed at me." His mom confusedly said, "Why would I be angry and disappointed at you? I love you, my son. Tell me, what's going on so I can help you. So Andy started talking about his problems to his mom about him being burnout in his studies.
After Andy told his mom everything, his mom said, "You know son, sometimes you need to take a break. Yes, I know studying is important but you should take a rest if you feel tired. My number 1 priority is you, Andy. I love you, Andy. I want my son to be strong, healthy, and safe every day. Just remember Andy, if you ever feel sad or if you've been experiencing a lot of problems, remember that social media isn't the only thing that can help you escape your sadness. It's your family. Never be scared to talk to me because I'll be here ready to listen and help you with your problems son. I'll always love you, my sweet son."
Andy hugged back at his mom and thanked her for being able to help him open up his problems and promises his mom that he'll make his health and safety his top priority.
