My life has taken an awful turn. It has ben blown to bits. You probably couldn't understand what I have gone through. I have to work this summer. The whole summer. Everyone knows summer is for games, fun, and hanging out with your friends, maybe pranking some enemies. Summer is not for work. I guess I should start back at the beginning and how I got here.
My name is Thomas Seyer, or as my friends now me as, Tom Slayer. I am 16 years old and have built quit a reputation at my high school as one of the best "Call To Arms" players on the local server. I even place in the top 100 globally. I work hard to maintain this with lots of practice and a great diet of pizza, chips, and soda. My best friends all play, and work as great partners when we play together. There is Ted, who is a great sniper, Mary, who is incredibly vicious, Jacob and Bartholomew, everyone call him Bart. We could put in and average of 4 – 5 hours a day on school nights and upwards to 14 hours on weekends. We were training hard for the next tournament that is coming up in the begging of November. It will be our first tournament together and we were hoping it might lead to others where we could make some real money playing this game we loved. That was until my dreams were shattered.
I was playing a round like usual. Everything was going my way. I have already got a kill could of 12 with no deaths and was in the middle of claiming a territory. If you haven't played "Call To Arms" before, you must have grown up under a rock, I'll explain how it works. You play on 5v5 teams who are dropped onto an ok size map. You must then make your way through the map getting better weapons, trying not to die to the npc soldiers and take control of the various territories on the map. There is usually 4 to 5 territories and you gain points for holding them from the opposing team of players and npcs. The longer you hold them the more points you gain, and the most points and the end of the game when the timer runs out wins. Now as I was saying I was claiming a territory while under enemy fire. The timer was running out and it was close. This capture would make or break our victory. Then came the lag. I was dodging bullets and then all of a sudden I couldn't move and was shot.
I was sent back to respawn and I was mad. Everyone started asking me what was wrong with me, how could I choke there. I tried to explain it was lag that got me killed. Nobody believed me. The opposing team took the lead and then won. I was ticked, and to make matters worse they rubbed it in badly. I got so upset I actually threw the controller, I wasn't paying attention and it hit my console, and knocked it off the shelf along with some photos. It fell 4 feet off my dresser and onto the floor. I instantly felt dread. I went over to look at the console. It looked ok on the outside, nothing was broken. I plugged it and it wouldn't turn on. I tried again and again but it wouldn't boot up.
At this time I heard my mother at the door. Thomas what happened I head a massive thud down stairs. I didn't want to let her in, and I definitely didn't want to tell her I broke my ne console. I have only had it for a month at this point. She knocked on the door again. I had no choice but to say come in. As she walked in she instantly noticed the pictures on the floor with their glass cracked. "What happened Thomas? Why are is the glass broke on your pictures?" I was going to try and make something up, but I had to let her Know about the console or I couldn't get a new one to continue playing. I said "The console fell off my dresser and knocked them off with it. It was an accident." She got upset just as I knew she would. "Thomas this keeps happening, you probably threw your controller again when you got mad and It dragged it off your dresser. Hopefully it still works" MY eyes fell. I replied " Mom the controllers are wireless so they cant drag the console off when thrown, but it doesn't work. It looks fine on the case but I am not sure what is wrong with it." Her eyes narrowed " That is awful, but how did it fall then." I was hoping she would would just go past that part. " I think something hit it and coused it to fall over." After a long pause she looked at me and said "You think?" "ok I got upset when I died. My game lagged and caused me to lose unfairly, Then everyone started making fun of me, so I got mad and threw my controller. I didn't mean to do it. It just happened."
"Thomas you really have to learn to hold backyour temper. It is going to get you into a lot of trouble some day. Its timefor dinner so come on down after you clean up your pictures and eat. We cantake the console over to Justin's game outlet tomarrow and have them look at itand see if it can be fixed like last time. You have broken 4 now in the pastyear due to your anger." "Mom you know the cat broke one of them" I said tringto make it sound better. "That still leave 3 that you broke and it has to stop, they are not cheap. Ill see you down stairs for dinner in 10 minutes." She saidas she left my room and shut the door. I just hope it doesn't take long to fixit. I need to start playing again to get ready for our tournament. The next daycouldn't come quick enough.
