arthur had learnt a long time ago that things tended to end up better for his brother than him.
but this one hurt.charles got the ferrari seat.
the seat both brothers had dreamed of since they were toddlers fighting over who had the red ferrari in the games they would play with their toy cars.
even with the gnawing feeling he felt would never go away he still turned to his brother and congratulated him.
he didnt want to be here.
why did charles have to tell everyone at the start of the family meal. now he had to sit through everyone congratulating him and complimenting him for at least another 5 hours.
the one person arthur really didn't want to face right now was you. he didn't want to let you down or make you feel like you picked the wrong brother as your best friend.
but you didn't feel that way. you would never feel that way. to you, arthur was the best guy in the world let alone the best brother.
he had stuck by your side since you were kids and you had moved in next door. he introduced you to his friends and you became part of the group until arthur realised that he didn't need the rest of his friends. he only needed you.
you squeezed his thigh comfortingly under the dinner table and he placed his hand over yours. you knew him better than anybody and he didn't need words right now. he needed your presence.
suprisingly for arthur, the meal had flown by quickly and he stood up and excused himself before anybody could catch him in a conversation, hurrying down the hallway.
without any care of arising suspicion to why arthur left so quickly, you followed him down the hallway where you found him with his head against the wall, tears falling down his cheeks.
"arthur..." your heart shattered as you saw the boy you cared for so much in tears.
he wiped his eyes and cheeks quickly before looking into your eyes but he couldnt hold it in and fell into your arms.
"im sorry" arthur said quietly as you hugged him tightly as if he would break if you let go.
"why would you ever be sorry?" you asked although you knew what he was thinking and you hated it.
"i'm a let down"
you held his head up to face you and rubbed his cheeks whilst letting his forehead fall on yours.
"you're not a let down. you could never dissapoint me. you're younger than charles, you have so much time left." you knew the words he needed to hear and you could already see his face lift.
he grabbed you gently and pushed you up against the wall and kissed you slowly. your hands slowly travelled to behind his neck where you pulled him closer to you never wanting his lips to leave yours.
"i love you" he said pulling away.
"i love you too."
