"𝐈'𝐌 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐒𝐎𝐑𝐑𝐘, 𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐎𝐎." niki mumbled as he sat in front of sunoo at en-cafe.
"it's fine, niki. really. now, what do you want to eat?" sunoo smiled. "i'm sure you're very hungry."
"yeah, but i still feel bad!" niki whined.
"if you don't order, i'll do it for you."
"fine! i'll get a croissant sandwich." niki crossed his arms as he saw sunoo get up to order at the counter for him.
the younger started brainstorming. what could he do to make it up to his friend? he didn't know why it mattered so much, but it just did. to him. he had never really made up with his other friends for skipping out on hangout events, but sunoo was just a special case. he didn't want to make the other angry too often. whilst deep in thought, the older came back with a smoothie and croissant sandwich in hand. setting it down in front of niki, sunoo laughed at the other's serious expression.
"hey, your food's here." sunoo chuckled while waving his hand in front of niki's face.
"oh." niki shook himself out of his thoughts. "thank you. i'll pay you back."
he reached inside his backpack to pull out his wallet, when he was stopped. "no worries, it's on me." sunoo had said.
"i insist though. you didn't need to." niki frowned.
"riki, just eat." at the mention of his real name, niki let out a small puff of air and began eating the sandwich.
"so, how'd you get a detention?" sunoo chuckled affectionately.
"i wasn't paying attention. i didn't even have the right course book out." niki rolled his eyes at his own stupidity.
sunoo laughed loudly. "no way!"
this continued until the end of lunch break, when sunoo provided another hangout opportunity.
"do you do any after-school activities?" niki had inquired.
"nah. i usually just go back to the dorms or the library." sunoo responded.
"oh! then, do you maybe want to come to my dorm after class today? we can netflix and chill." niki raised his eyebrows up and down.
"hah! sure." the other chuckled.
then, the bell rang.
niki walked out of his last class for the day, smiling at the thought of getting to see sunoo. while walking towards the dorms, something in the window of a giftshop caught his eye. it was a plushie of a really cute fox. niki stopped and stared. the longer he stared, the more he declared it looked a lot like sunoo. he made a decision a few seconds later, jogging into the shop to purchase one.
'this is the perfect make-up gift.' he had thought to himself.
sunoo should forgive him for being late to their meet-up because of the fox. it was super cute.
niki stuffed the bag into his backpack, and then sprinted towards his dorm. he arrived to the sight of sunoo standing there, playing games on his phone.
"sunoo!" niki exclaimed. "you're early."
"yeah, our professor let us out 10 minutes early." sunoo smiled warmly.
"lucky. come on." niki unlocked his dorm with the keycard. "my dormmate has evening classes, so he won't be here for a while."
"ah, i see. so, what are we watching?" sunoo gasped and plopped down onto niki's bed at the sight of a giant dinosaur squishmallow on it. "this is so cute!"
"yeah, his name is danny." niki said while turning on the tv. "do you have anything you want to watch?"
"let's watch mean girls." sunoo suggested.
niki's laugh resonated in the dorm. "you got it."
they both sat silent during the movie, occasionally laughing or making comments. niki had almost forgotten to give sunoo the plushie. after the movie, niki was staring at sunoo laughing while hugging his squishmallow when he remembered. he climbed across the bed to his backpack, pulling the bag out of it. sunoo stopped laughing and looked at him curiously.
"this is for you." niki said shyly while pulling the fox plushie out and handing it to sunoo. "it's a 'forgive me' gift for being late."
"it's so cute!" sunoo gasped. "no worries, niki. i told you i already forgive you!"
niki just laughed as sunoo continued squeezing and pulling the plushie.
