We won our first match against Maimon High yesterday. Our second match will be tomorrow Thursday. The team was all practicing rigorously while I remained inside my dorm. How many days has it been since that encounter with Dad? Ah, yes... It's been 3 days since then. 3 days of being absent from practices and 2 nights crying my heart out. I'm amazed at how Ira was able to put up herself for me.
I am nothing but trouble to her. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be able to get here. Jeez, I also need to pull myself back up. I can't stay sulking here. I also need to get a move on.
I sprung out of bed and I saw myself in the mirror. God, I look so miserable. My hair's been oily and I haven't taken a bath for these past 2 days!! I prepared my bathroom essentials and went out to take a bath.
Finally done, I wear my fresh-from-laundry uniform and head out. As I went out from the dorms' arch, a firm but soft voice called out to me. I glanced behind and saw Chris-senpai with a warm smile etched on his face.
"Chris-senpai..." I mutter lowly.
"That's a very bad hair day you got there." I got flustered at his statement. I instantly found my hand touching my hair.
"Ah.. yeah! I don't have time to uh, beautify it!" I responded nervously, forcing out a grin.
"I see," Chris-senpai paused, "that's so unlike you. Come here, I'll fix that."
My eyes widened to his offer, both cheeks heating up from being flustered. "Ehhh!?" I exclaimed.
He chuckled, my stoic senpai just chuckled. "Your expression is hilarious, Kat."
"It is!?" I asked in surprised.
"Haha, yes. Come on, let me fix your hair for you." He said. The tone of his voice is soft and patient. There's warm mixed with it. I slowly sauntered my way towards him and we both sat down the bench outside the dorms' arch gate.
Chris-senpai started combing my hair and I couldn't help but let out a tempting sigh. I closed my eyes as I feel my hair being tugged back. "Done."
I jolted up from his sudden speech. I touched my hair immediately and let out a gasp. "Y-You know how to do braids!?" I asked him in surprised, mouth agape.
Chris-senpai let out a soft giggles before responding with a, "Yes. I know how to do braids."
Still surprised, I asked again. "How!?"
"You see..." Chris-senpai paused, a warm smile in a longing manner was etched on his face. "I should be a big brother..."
A big brother? I continued to look at senpai. "My mother was pregnant with a baby girl. When I thought about baby girls, I thought about hairstyles. So I practiced, with a doll I bought I've practiced different hairstyles for my little sister. But then," Chris-senpai paused, there's a level of uncertainty on his face. "my little sister died.. inside my mother's womb. Not long after, my mother died, too."
My eyes widened. I don't know what to say as of the moment. I was speechless. I continued to stare at senpai with a sorry look. No, I shouldn't stare with pity to Chris-senpai. I should show sympathy. This must've been hard on him. I wonder how many people he had opened himself to and spurt out this secret.
