"Are you fucking kidding me?!" Sanemi screeched. Tanjiro shook his head, a quiet chuckle falling from his lips.
"This isn't a demon safe haven! What the hell is wrong with you?!" The Wind Pillar continued.
"She's just a child. She's even younger than Nezuko." Tanjiro attempted to defend you. Sanemi didn't want to hear it. He simply decided to ignore Tanjiro. If it weren't for Rengoku being there in your defense as well, he would have already stabbed you.
And it took a shit ton of convincing. They had already taken in Nezuko, and now Rengoku wanted to bring in a demon too?! Sanemi and Obanai did not agree. However, upon being told that you had risked yourself to save their fellow Hashira, the other six seemed to become more accepting of you. In the end, the only two that didn't agree with you being around were Sanemi and Obanai. Even the master himself made an appearance, simply to state that he agreed with allowing you to stay.
You were sent to stay at the Butterfly Estate, which prompted you to grow rather close to Shinobu. You also liked Kanao and Aoi, you thought they were really fun, even if Kanao ALWAYS won when you played tag. Of course, you visited other estates from time to time.
One time you were left in Obanai's care. That was a shit show. To be honest, the only reason he tolerated you was because Mitsuri liked you.
"I don't understand what Rengoku sees in you. I just see a demon." The Serpent Hashira said bluntly. You simply stared up at him, however your gaze drifted towards his snake. You then smiled at the serpent.
"You're snake is really pretty, mister." You said suddenly. The snake, Kaburamaru, made a short, hissing noise, it's forked tongue sticking out for a moment. Obanai blinked, taking a moment to register what you had said, before sighing.
"It looks like a peppermint. Is that it's name?" You then asked.
"Of course not. That name is stupid." He said.
"Then what is its name?" You questioned.
"Kaburamaru." He responded. The snake looked over at the half-blind boy in response to its name, before looking back at you.
Yeah, not much progress was made that day. Obanai didn't particularly like you, but he did tolerate you, seeing as you were a child.
Whenever you stayed with Giyu, you were very comfortable. He was a relatively quiet person, however he did know how to keep you entertained in his own way. Sure, he wasn't loud and always ready to play a game, but you liked the comfortable silence he brought with him. That, and on occasion he would give you something sweet. He'll give you something small that wouldn't cause you to go into a sugar rush. You cherished these small things, as they were something you had lacked for most of your life. If you can't fall asleep, he'll tell you a story to help you fall asleep. This usually puts you to sleep quickly, as he tends to tell rather...boring stories.
However, your favorite person to be around, was Rengoku. He was the Hashira you saw the most often, even more often than Shinobu or Giyu. Rengoku made sure to always spend at least an hour with you each day, and if he missed a day he would stay for two hours the next day. He truly did feel as if he owed his life to you, however you disagreed. You were doing what your heart told you to do.
Rengoku was pretty good with kids, seeing as he has a younger brother that looks up to him. There was a time when you were playing hide and seek with Rengoku, and he fell into a panic trying to find you because you had such a good spot.
"(Y/N)?! Come on now, this isn't very funny!" Rengoku called out. No response. He went from room to room within the Butterfly Mansion, trying desperately to find the demon child. Eventually, he entered the kitchen.
"(Y/N)?!" Rengoku called out again. Suddenly, a tiny gasp and the sound of slight shifting resonated from one of the cabinets. He could also see that it was cracked open slightly. Rengoku approached the cabinet, before swinging it open. And there she was, the demon child sat within the cabinet, her body smaller that before. Rengoku sighed in relief, reaching out to pick you up when suddenly you shot out of the cabinet, over his head.
"Huh?!" Rengoku exclaimed, watching as you landed on the ground and took out running.
"Hey, get back here!" He chuckled, giving chase immediately. Needless to say, it was a fun day.
There was a time you scared Tengen Uzui and his wives as well. Rengoku and Shinobu had a mission, so you were sent to stay with Tengen for the week. However, during the entire week, Tengen's wives fawned over you and just thought you were the cutest little thing! Eventually, all the pampering became too much for you, and you decided you would rather be alone.
So when Rengoku and Shinobu came to pick you up, they were shocked to see even Uzui in hysterics.
"RENGOKU, WE HAVE LOST THE CHILD! THIS IS EXTREMELY UNFLAMBOYANT!" The Sound Pillar screeched.
"Have you checked the whole house?"
"YES!"
"Under the beds?"
"YES!"
"All the closets?"
"YES!"
"Behind the furniture?"
"YES, GOD DAMMIT!"
"The cabinets in your kitchen?"
"FOR THE LAST TIME YE-..."
"NO, WE HAVEN'T!"
Rengoku chuckled, shaking his head. Uzui ushered Shinobu and Rengoku inside, towards their kitchen.
"But she can't be here! We're in here all the time and we have never seen her." Uzui said. Rengoku looked around the kitchen, before spotting a cabinet in the corner. It didn't appear to be used often, as the wooden handle had more color than the other cabinet handles. Rengoku walked over to the cabinet, opening it carefully. And sure enough, there you were. You sat in the cabinet, reading a book Rengoku had given you recently. You then looked up to the newfound light, spotting the three Hashiras, as well as Tengen's wives in the background all sighing in relief in unison. You simply stared at them, before going back to reading your book.
"Ah, there you are, little flame!" Rengoku chuckled, reaching out and carefully picking you up. Tengen suddenly began to laugh, walking over to Rengoko and ruffling your hair.
"I want to be angry, but I don't think I can when you're just so adorable." He shook his head with a chuckle.
"(Y/N) tends to get overwhelmed rather easily, so she liked to find dark and quiet spots to hide in Most of the time, it's a cabinet." Rengoku explained. Tengen nodded.
"I see...Well then, we look forward to your next visit, (Y/N)! We'll make sure to make it flashy, but not the the point you'll hide from us again." The Sound Pillar grinned, stepping back and allowing Rengoku and Shinobu to exit.
Overall, most of the pillars like you. Sure, Obanai doesn't entirely trust you, but he isn't outwardly rude to you like Sanemi is. Mitsuri loves you to death though, almost as much as Rengoku. She's often the reason why you have so much energy, she gives you candy rather frequently.
But you couldn't ask for anyone else to have taken you in. You didn't expect to be spared, so it was a pleasant surprise when you woke up to a comfy room after you saved the Flame Pillar. You had entirely expected your previous parents to find you and drag you back to the home you could only describe as hell on Earth.
