The woods surrounding the brooding mansion were lifeless and cold, nightfall only bringing the creeps in harsher. This building was far from civilization, working well for the individuals that resided within.
It was the end of the week and each proxy was making their way back to the crumbling house. Jane, Masky and Hoodie were always punctual, so they were serving their reports first. Toby, Jeff, and Clockwork had been sent on a mission together a week prior, so only Clockwork and Jeff strutting right in was odd, to say the least.
All eyes turned to the pair, "Where is Toby?" Slenderman's voice came telepathically, booming strong and hard-edged. Clockwork and Jeff looked back and forth at each other with something akin to realization and bewilderment. "I knew we were forgetting something!" Jeff exclaimed, smacking a hand over his face and groaning. Clockwork shook her head in disbelief, Slenderman's overwhelming presence reminding her to apologize.
She gave a bow and muttered many sorry's, the tall, faceless figure shaking his head in irritation. On cue near comically, a window shattered and in barreled a five-foot-six man, disheveled, bloody, and clothes torn beyond the point of repair.
He shouted something frantic and incoherent, facing the appalled group of beings, goggles gone and eyes wild, before whipping right back around, tossing a bloodied hatchet at something indiscernible seemingly right outside where the window, reduced to pathetic shards of glass, had been.
An inhuman screech confirmed nearly everyone's suspicions, the Rake. "Oh fuck!" Jeff shouted, leaping over the worn leather sofa to assist Toby. Masky and Hoodie were quick to reload their empty pistols, taking the flank and releasing round after round into the Rake.
Jane and Clockwork rushed outside and ran around the front to get better access, staying in the enclosed space and jumping in front of the line of fire was not a smart idea and they weren't gonna risk getting their heads sliced off by Toby's hatchets all because they didn't want to head out front.
The girls whipped out their knives in a flash, Jane was graceful with her movements, throwing a knife into the creature's side with impeccable aim to distract it from the others inside. It screeched horridly, and as it lunged for Jane in a painful, desperate frenzy, Clockwork jammed a knife into it's skull, kicking her foot up onto it's body for leverage as she yanked the knife right back out and pushed it's dying form away.
Clockwork swiveled around on her heels at the noise of footsteps on grass behind her. It was Hoodie, who moved right past her and fired a bullet clean inbetween the eyes of the twitching, pitiful creature, it's life now meeting a sweet halt.
The gunshot echoed throughout the trees and he holstered the firearm in one swift movement. There goes the Rake.
Back inside, Toby was catching hell from Slenderman. "You're late, you split from your team, you brought the Rake to my mansion! Your list of offenses keep piling up, Tobias," Slenderman was pacing as he went on. It was far from normal for the eldritch man to lose his composure like this, and it wasn't very likely Toby's fuck-ups were the sole reason.
Toby was seated on the beaten-up couch taking it, it was common knowledge that if you talked back to Slenderman you would probably come out of it missing a couple appendages. Or your life.
The three proxies gathered out front came in as Toby was banished to the infirmary, surprisingly merciful of Slenderman seeing as he had just gone off on him like that.
Slenderman turned to face the three standing in the foyer. "Come forth." He beckoned, met with immediate obedience.
"The Rake has been taken care of, sir." Jane spoke up, craning her neck to look at the ridiculously tall being. "Good to hear. Jeffrey– Oh! Perfect." Everyone turned to see who came in. Eyeless Jack. "For your tardiness, Eyeless Jack, you will assist Jeffrey in disposing of the Rake's corpse." If Slenderman could smile, everyone present was positive there would be a smug one plastered right on his non-face.
