Ch 16: The Greed of Humans

Dantine's Pov

It was several years after my visit where I found out that my nephew had a girlfriend. I was in my shop and got a call. Some demons were attacking at a museum. I got there quickly and found the demons attacking a person. I saved them and got a good look at them.

He had red hair, and wielded two thin blades. He also used some throwing knives. He wore a white and grey outfit that didn't cover his stomach area, giving me a good view of his abs.

He dropped a coin that I picked up.

Dantine: "You called?" I tossed it back to him. He caught it and walked away, throwing a knife at a map.

?: "Till next time, daughter of Sparda." He disappeared. I looked at the map, figuring he wanted me to go to the place the knife hit.

Timeskip

I got to the location and found it deserted. It was filled to the brim with demons, but no people. It clearly had been inhabited, but now everyone was gone.

I found the person from the museum again, this time looking through some rubble.

?: "Where's Matier? Matier! Matier!"

An old woman came out of a tunnel. She was holding a funny looking cane.

Matier: "Good grief... They really made a big mess, didn't they? It sure took him a while to find this place. Oh? You have arrived, daughter of Sparda."

Dantine: "Wait, you knew him?"

She explained how her clan protected this place with Sparda years ago. Then she explained that a sorcerer had allowed demons to come trough in an attempt to gain power. She asked me to deal with him. I didn't see any reason not to, so I agreed. She promised to tell me more about my dad if I won.

I also learned that her son's name was Luca. I then left through the tunnel to try to make my way to the tower this Arius guy was hiding in.

I killed a bunch of demons on the way, eventually getting to the remains of a city. I'd seen some bad demon attacks before, but nothing like this. Demonic flesh was growing on everything. I had to fight several military vehicles that were overgrown. I even got attacked by a building itself that was infested.

I got to the top of the tower and found my target. He ran away before I could get him, summoning a huge fire demon to cover his escape. It wasn't a hard fight.

The building almost blew up, but I made it out. Then I took a discarded motorbike and went in the direction I'd seen Arius's helicopter leave.

I found myself in a building and got attacked by a demon that I later learned had also fought Sparda in the past. I killed it and pressed on.

I found Luca in another room looking down at a cup.

Dantine: "That what you were looking for, cutie?"

Luca: "Yes. Now we can stop him." He looked down at it. "Actually, I don't deserve this power. Here, bring this to Matier for me, please. I have something I need to take care of." He left.

I met Matier in another part of the castle. She handed me her staff, which was one of the other artifacts needed for the ritual I was trying to stop. She also told me her son had tried to face Arius alone and was probably captured, so she asked me to free him.

I decided to have some fun with it, so I swapped the coin artifact with a dumb double sided one I got at some point. They looked similar enough.

I got there and Arius took them like I planned. I fought him for a while and saved Luca. Then I jumped out of the tower with him.
