We walk in silence for a while until we get to the bus stop. I look at his wrist when he isn't paying attention and notice a large bandage over his clock. So he didn't want to know either. I turn to my left and see Kennedy, Lucas, and Shauna walking towards us. Kennedy and Lucas are a little ways behind holding Hands and talking in exited whispers. Their clocks fell off the moment I introduced Kennedy to Lucas. Shauna of course, walks ahead her head stuck in a book. She subconsciously avoids all people around her as she walks. I love them, my little, dysfunctional family.
Shauna looks up, sees me and book marks her page before clutching it to her chest and running to me. She was my closest friend, even though I loved them all so she got to see my clock, even when I wouldn't look. She wiggles her eyebrows and giggles before ranting on and on about how authors are breaking the metaphorical contract between author and reader by ending the book with a cliffhanger. I nod at all the right parts and stifle a laugh when I see the look mystery man is giving her. I never got his name. I hold my finger up to Shauna and say "Hold on. I gotta do something." I quickly turn to him and poke his shoulder. His eyes dart to me and he smiles a little before saying "oh I'm sorry" God he apologizes a lot. "It's okay, I was just wondering your name." I say with a shaky laugh. By now Kennedy and Lucas are here staring intently. "Oh, it's uhm Nathan. And you are?" "I'm Christina, it's nice to formally meet you." I say with a posh British accent and shake his hand.
He smirks and goes to say something back, but his phone rings and he pulls it out before frowning and answering it, walking away so we can't hear the conversation. Kennedy grins and points to her clock-less wrist before raising her eyebrows in a silent question. I know the answer of course but I'm not going to say that, so I just shrug. Jasmine shrieks in pain before falling to the ground, barely catching her book before placing it on the ground and clutching her wrist. I immediately drop down to her level and rip her scarf off and see her clock fall off, but it has another three days left on it.
I blink in shock and hear Lucas whisper a soft "Oh no." Nathan comes back and looks quickly at jasmine before saying "sorry, uh my friend. Kades, he just died. Oh god I feel so bad for his soulmate. Her clock must have fallen off. I heard they grow back but it's extremely painful. Because it's tearing your soul into another piece and transfers it to someone else. It happens in like a wee--" he gets cut off by a painful wail, no doubt coming from jasmine. I glare at him before turning to Jasmine and gathering her in my arms. "Oh I'm sorry, I'm so sorry Jasmine" I smooth her hair out while Nathan puts the pieces together "oh my god! I'm sorry uh Jasmine.." "I-it's okay, j-just tell me what he was like please?"(Heyyyyy chapter two is up! I'm sure it's trash but yea. Oh and kennedy, I couldn't think of names, sorry XD let me know if it sucks please 😇😇)
