Six miles later we finally, make it back to the FOB/CP. They lay me down on the operating table to look at the stab wound on my leg. To allow Meader and Austin to work I was placed under sleeping gas for a couple of hours.

"Is he going to be okay?" Brooklyn asks

"Well, the blade didn't pierce the femoral artery, so that's good." Austin states

"Yes, however, there is still muscle damage so, he shouldn't be walking or doing anything extraneous for a couple of days." Meader responds.

"Yeah, well, we don't exactly have a couple of days for him to heal, now do we. I say we use that experimental thing you've been working on with his help Austin, you know that auto-healer thingamajig." Matt states

"There is a reason it is called experimental dumbass. We haven't assessed its effect on people yet. We don't know what it'll do or how it would affect a person in a real-life scenario like this." Austin replies

"I for one say do it. If it will get him back on his feet, then we need to do it." Vadakin says

"I agree with Vadakin." States Brewer

"Well, as the only trained field medic, I also would have to agree with Vadakin on this one. Any other time I would be against it, but we need all our power to take out this clown." Says Meader

"Well, that's a majority vote to use it. Four to one" Matt claims

"Fine, help get him onto the stretcher." Austin says caving in.

Vadakin and Austin lower me onto the stretcher then, Meader and Matt carry the stretcher down into the cellar to the auto-healer. Brewer and Vadakin lift me up onto the table then they place the restraints on my wrists and ankles. Austin closes the glass lid and uses the touch screen to select the area that needs healing, the machine chimes and then whirrs to life. Then a timer pops up on the screen, One Hour Thirty Minutes Until Finished.

"Alright, so the machine only needs one of us to watch it at any given point in time. So, I am going to leave Meader here as she has the best medical quals outta anyone of us here. Also, I trust her more." Austin states.

"Fair enough." Matt replies.

The rest of the group walks up out of the basement and Meader stands guard over the auto-healer. As the rest of the group reaches the surface, they hear rustling coming from the bushes to the west of the FOB.

"Matt, Vadakin go and check it out." Austin ordered

"Already moving." Matt replied

Matt and Vadakin moved towards the bushes to find nothing.

"Bravo-One this is Charlie-One. There is nothing here. You sent us over here for nothing dumbass." Matt reported

"Alright. Get your asses back here. We are going to spread out and research the areas again. We need to locate this clown."

"Roger that. Charlie-One Out." Matt replies

The group splits up, Matt and Vadakin move to take Matt's old sector, Austin and Brewer move to take My old sector, and Brooklyn, who got armed with a M-16, G17, and one fragmentation and flashbang grenade, took Austin's old sector.

One Hour And A Half Later

Healing Process Complete! The door opens and I sit up. As I look around, I notice three things. One, I just woke up in the basement of the house. Two, I am laying in the bed of the auto-healer. Three, I am completely and utterly alone. eyHey

"I swear, nothing I ever say about sticking together ever actually resonates with these dumbasses." I state, "Now, Where the fuck did they put my shit?"

I hop out of the auto-healer, and I change out of my current uniform. Obviously, you can't stay in the same clothes you were bleeding in. It's just not good hygiene. I put on my BDU uniform, and I put my boots back on. As I continue grabbing my shit and re-equipping myself, I hear a clattering noise come from the opposite side of the basement. I hadn't gotten to my M4 yet, so I drew my sidearm, flipped my NVG's down and started to sweep the basement in the direction that the sound had come from. Then a figure darts across my field of view and I look and start moving towards the direction the thing just ran towards. As I get closer, I can see the shape come back into my field of view. I flip my NVG's up, turn on my flashlight and I squat down.

"Well, would you look at that, it's just a small mouse." I say as it scurries away again.

I didn't see it but behind me a shapeshifter sneaks up behind me while I'm crouched watching the mouse flee. It raises its hand and then, something hits the back of my head, and everything goes dark as I collapse to the ground.
