Vergilia's Pov

After the incident with Kyrie randomly coming over to spend time with Nero, it became fairly normal for her to be around. What surprised Y/N and I was that unlike us, they never seemed to get physical. They were either much more innocent than us or just much more sensible.

Nero also began answering more and more calls. He was extremely skilled. Sometimes when things seemed bad enough we would both go and deal with it even faster.

I noticed that while he did tend to be methodical like I was, he also could be very brash. Especially with his demonic arm. He would use it to pull demons to him, while I would close distance by teleporting to them.

At one point, a massive demon calling itself Balrog attacked Fortuna. I learned that it had taken Berial's place as the ruler of a region of the demon world called the Fire Hell. He was no match for the two of us, and we killed him. He became a devil arm similar to Gilgamesh, which Nero kept. It was clearly an extremely powerful one.

We returned home and Nero and I began to train with his new weapon. I had never gotten the opportunity to teach him how to keep an opponent from being able to adapt to how he fought by constantly switching weapons.

He quickly began to incorporate his new weapon into his fighting style. I was impressed with his skill.

Nero: "I bet I can rig something to this like I did with Red Queen."

Vergilia: "You probably can. It already has great power, so I do not know how much it needs it."

Nero: "It couldn't hurt to see if there's anything I can add to it."

Some time after this, I got a knock on the door. When I opened it, it was a young woman with a thick accent and glasses. She looked about Nero's age.

?: "You the one who killed Agnus?"

Vergilia: "Who are you?"

?: "Nicoletta Goldstein. His daughter."

Vergilia: "Are you here to take revenge?" I prepared Yamato.

Nico: "No. I came to thank you for killing that deadbeat."

Vergilia: "Are you also related to a woman named Nell Goldstein?"

Nico: "My grandmother."

Vergilia: "Right. She made some of my sister's weapons."

Nico: "Yeah. I've heard that."

Vergilia: "So, why are you here?"

Nico: "I heard dad had some research that might be worth looking into. I might be able to make better weapons with it." I was somewhat cautious of giving her this, but I knew if she tried anything there was no way I wouldn't be able to stop her.

I knew much of those documents had been destroyed, but Y/N had some that he'd managed to get his hands on and hide. What he had found didn't make any sense to us, but maybe this woman could make sense of them.

Vergilia: "Most of his notes were destroyed. I have some, but they are only fragments. If you try anything malicious, I can cut you down faster than you can blink."

Nico: "Ok, ok. Got it."

Vergilia: "Very well." I called Y/N and had him bring them out. The woman looked at them and seemed to mostly understand them.

Nico: "Oh, I can make so good stuff out of this."

Vergilia: "Is there a way you can use it to create better weapons?"

Nico: "Probably. I just need stuff to work with."

Y/N: "What kind of stuff?"

Nico: "Demon claws, bones, that kinda thing. Dad was trying to bind demon power to humans, but I think it's probably better to make weapons instead. The thing I was missing was how to harness it in the first place. He seemed to have figured it out."

Y/N: "Can you do that safely? He had to open hell gates and let demons through."

Nico: "He was trying to get much more power than I am. I can probably just apply the same process to remains of dead demons."

Vergilia: "Well then, I believe we may have use of such services. Are you open to a deal?"

Nico: "What?"

Vergilia: "I will provide you with resources to test with, and you use it to create weapons to make our demon hunting easier."

Nico: "Done." At this point, my fear of gaining power was mostly gone. Y/N had forced me to start trusting myself. I saw a chance to become more effective, so I was taking it. I knew Nero would likely be able to assist her with her research, since he also had an aptitude with modifying his weapons.

Our deal proved to be worth the investment. The first thing she did was help Nero improve his new Balrog fists and boots. They could charge up already, but she made them do so faster and added retractable claws to them.

She also used pieces of smaller demons to make attachments for the Red Queen that had specific abilities. They were less stable, so he needed to be careful with them.

The first one they built was from a blitz that Nero killed. It could create blasts of electricity that sent smaller demons flying and stunned larger ones.

Nico also made one that I immediately took away and hid from Nero that she called 'Sweet Surrender'. I briefly thought of using it on Y/N, but decided against it.

Gilgamesh was also modified, although the biggest difference was that it glowed blue instead of red. Everything else she changed was mostly just making it slightly more powerful and faster.

Overall, I was more than impressed with what she was able to do. Every weapon I put in front of her came back better and faster, often with entirely new abilities.

I came into the bedroom and found Y/N there. He was holding the 'Sweet Surrender'.

Y/N: "What. Is. This?"

Vergilia: "Nicoletta made it for Nero and I confiscated it."

Y/N: "Yikes." He hit the button and watched it with an uncomfortable look on his face. "She must have gotten a kick out of making this." He paused. "Wait... Why didn't you just destroy it?" My eyes widened.

Vergilia: "I never thought to do that. Maybe I should force her to repurpose it into something useful."

Y/N: "What did she even use to make it?"

Vergilia: "I am not entirely sure."

Y/N: "That makes it so much worse."

Vergilia: "To tell the truth, I wasn't sure how you would react if you found it."

Y/N: "Yeah, no. This thing crosses a line. I don't think it would even fit." He handed it to me. "I mean, this thing is huge."

Vergilia: "Alright, I'll make sure she gets rid of it or changes it." I walked out of the room.

She seemed disappointed, but agreed to turn it into something more useful.

Nico: "You at least give it a try?"

Vergilia: "Absolutely not."

Nico: "Fine. I just thought one of you might enjoy it."

Vergilia: "I asked for weapons, not toys."

Nico: "Sure." She brought it back into her workshop. I didn't know what she planned on doing with it, but I hoped she would take it seriously this time.

Everything else she made continued to impress me aside from that. I had confidence that whatever she turned it into would be better.

After seeing it turned on, I was also becoming somewhat excited, so Y/N and I relived the tension that night after Nero was asleep.
